Tarot Familiars Deck by Lisa Parker

RiverRunsDeep

I recently discovered Lisa Parker's Tarot Familiars deck. Can't believe I haven't heard of it before! I have several tarot bags with Lisa's artwork and absolutely love them. The idea of a complete tarot deck by her, animal themed, has me over the moon! Does anyone have it? What are your thoughts about it?

I already have several of the pictures from that deck on my walls and on my cups. I just saw a walking-through of it on Truth-of Story on Youtube; sorry I cannot link to it. Love the Lovers with Red Riding Hood and her wolf and all the other animal cards (no other humans but Red Riding Hood), but the cats, ravens and owls are sometimes seen in houses, like they lived with withes and wizards. The suits are cats for wands, ravens for swords, owls for cups and wolves for pentacles. Other animals too in the Majors. A pip-deck, but pictures on Aces and the Courts of course. Don´t know yet where to buy it, but definately will. Love, love, love it. Black, embrace the magick deck colourwise and with all the magickal parafernalia. I almost say you must love this deck if you love animals. It is rather small too, something I like.

EDITED to add; I didn´t mean embrace BLACK magick, sorry if it sounded like it. Only the borders are black, and all the cards night-time, except The Sun; both Sun and Moon Rabbits or Hares.

Stupidly enough Amazon.uk would not send to my adress but Amazon would. Not more expensive either. Thank you for helping me find this divine deck.

Does anyone know if this really was conceived as a tarot deck or is it made up of other illustrations that have been shoe-horned into tarot? I was looking at it the other day...

I've seen a walkthrough of it and it looks like the latter (the same thing that happened in Anne Stokes' decks).

I think it is a mix.

I think it is a mix.
The owl's from a bag design, the cat's from a mug...This compromises the overall feel of the deck, I think - but I suppose if people really like her artwork they can probably see it quite easily as majors and minors.

Yes, it helps that it is a pip deck, so there are no Minors, and the lady in Truth in Story, don´t know her name, thinks that the Majors work. Of course, she likes the art work too, and loves this deck.
I agree with you, Le Fanu, this sort of deck can go horribly wrong; like Beautiful Creatures did. Truth in Story has reviewed both, and though she absolutely hated Beautiful Creatures; she loves this deck. However, I believe she loves Lisa Parker´s art work like I do.
I suggest those who feel tempted look on this Truth in Story lady´s walk-through. I think she is very honest, I use to watch her deck reviews
I can´t say if the deck works, as I haven´t used it, but I believe it does. The Majors seems to work to me. But I´m a fan, like you said, and usually I prefer the art-work to be made for a deck, like you do.

I have this deck and like it alot,it does seem to be that alot of the pictures are from other works of Lisa parker rather than original, however they work out beautifully as a tarot deck.Do be aware its minor arcana are pictorial-seven cups just portrayed as seven cups, three of swords is three swords etc.

That sounds great! Looking forward to working with it.
