Scrying.

sedgeez

Hi everyone, I've been away for a long time but recently found my spiritual path once again and have started tarot reading again.

Id like to try my hand at something else though and I've been contemplating scrying. Could anyone tell me what best to use to scry and maybe any handy tips for a beginner?

I don't have any tips as I'm a beginner myself, but I'm finding that scrying with a crystal ball is a VERY enjoyable experience! The book that was recommended to me by others on this Forum is 'Crystal Ball Gazing' by Uma Silbey. Excellent book. You might check out scrying posts by flipping through back pages as well. There are some very knowledgeable people here.

GotH, here on A.T. is a really great scryer--I hope she sees this thread, perhaps I'll send her a PM.

You can scry with anything--but things with a pattern in it of some sort seem to be the easiest to scry with. Such as your floor--if you have a tile floor with any type of pattern in it. Or the ceiling tiles, if they are the same way, (with a pattern). You can also use a candle that is lit, (I think Padma does this? though I could be mistaken and have her mixed up with someone else). You can honestly scry with ANYTHING. Even if you have a crystal to look at--not necessarily a crystal ball and even the back of your eyeballs, as some people like to say. meaning, just close your eyes and scry!

The way to go about it is to quiet your mind and still yourself and just pay attention to what comes to you. Generally, if looking at an object, such as a crystal ball, crystal, floor pattern, etc. you will begin to see something take shape. Make note of it in your mind and continue on to see if you get more.

After you are done, just review all you got and see if it makes sense. You can and I always advise people just starting out to use a dream book to help you decipher the meanings of anything you get.

Don't scry if you are tired--it only brings on a headache. Don't force it--again headache material. and, IF you begin to get a headache while scrying--stop immediately & rest and leave the scrying to another day. Scrying w/a headache can make you get a REALLY BAD HEADACHE--migraine type material.

Scrying is something that can happen immediately--or it can come to you after you've tried 3, 4, 5x or maybe not till you've tried 30 times. So, if it doesn't pay off right away, don't panic and give up--keep at it. Its like mediation in a lot of ways. Sometimes you have to keep at it to see any results.

Good Luck!

Yes, I was going to mention this book, but since I wasn't sure if sedgeez was using a crystal ball, I didn't mention it. But that book is the BEST book for crystal ball scrying! Who knows, it may have some good tips for any type of scrying--I haven't read through it in a long time, so I can't really recall it all--but it is the one book I always recommend to people and have purchased for others whom I know are into crystal ball scrying.

Thank you so much for your replies!!

I have a selenite sphere, is that something I could use? I also saw somewhere that someone used animal bones to scry? I'd love to try that too I think with what I have.

I got the PM. :) Well spoken celticnoodle, there's really not much more I can add to what you've already suggested except to reiterate not forcing it. And yes it is true, you can scry with ANYTHING. I just now looked up at my textured ceiling and got a message I will need to check on.. I'll know what it's referring to by the end of the day.

Just have fun, practice often and trust what you see sedgeez.

Of course!!! In fact, I think the selenite may be just the right crystal to start this exercise with. I looked it up (God bless Google!) and it is a great crystal that connects you to "the Divine Light" and also a wonderful crystal to help you with personal transformation. Those 2 things alone, I feel you just can't go wrong with them on your side! :D Plus, I know that selenite is a great crystal to use to open your crown chakra.

T.Y. GotH. :) and, if its not too personal, you should keep us posted when you do find out if the message was right!

I am so looking forward to settling down again and getting heavily back into my meditation practices and I may just give scrying another try again, as well.

Yep..

So what I saw was a *man* and a *child* with their heads down facing an adult *woman* who was standing there rigidly. I could tell it was a woman by her dress. Anyway, a few of the dads got together yesterday to take the kids on an event. Turns out one of the kids got in trouble and of course had to come back and explain to the mother (*woman*) what had happened. The woman/mother turned out to be me.

I think you should! It's like picking up a picture book without a title. :)

oops! and uh...oh. :(

hope it wasn't too bad. but, WOW! Great reading!

reminds me of when I was a kid a thousand years ago. My siblings and I always hated doing anything that we knew mom wouldn't approve of becuase she always seemed to know! we couldn't get away with much of anything growing up with a psychic mom. and if she as too busy to clue into it, there were the psychic aunts and grandmother who were of NO help, calling dear ol' mom to tell her.

Just a bit of impudence. The event they were engaging in was war/battle type games but still.

Oh my gosh! My mother is still to this day, the same way. I can't hide anything from her. She always "knows" when I'm troubled (or in trouble) or down about something. :( I'll get a text or a call that simply says, "What's wrong?"

Psychic Moms.. Now THAT would be an interesting chat topic. :D
