Help! :bugeyed:

Last month, I bought 5 (!) new decks. 2x Tarot, 1x Tarot d'Eltynne, 1x oracle cards, 1x Tarockcards.
It's getting worse - I think about buying Playing Cards! Regardless of having already several unused decks sitting in the drawer, and 3 decks in use, I cannot stop thinking about getting that cute mini deck one may use to do Patience. These come with a soft pink background. I HATE soft pink. I love mini decks. I already have a mini deck, but it's not cute.
I try to glue myself to the computer to avoid leaving the house and visiting that shop which is luckily in some distance.

I only have one mind, one approach. Why on earth can't I stop getting new decks?! Playing Cards all look the same (in essence), but I cannot stop drooling over the various sets shown in blogs!

Help!

Wow, and here I thought I am bad for buying a deck every few months...

As I see it you have here a few options:
1)Sale decks you don't use, clear place for new. Or just trade those you don't use for something you want.

2) Activate your willpower. You don't really need those decks. And yes, it's possible to live without them.

Good luck and I am here if you need my superpowers =3

I really could use your superpowers! :joke:

So recently, I have sold all unused decks. I've applied the Konmari method of decluttering my home and there was lots of free space in my drawer.
The recent shopping spree is really unexplicable to myself!

Many times we buy things to ourselves as small condolence prizes, when we are stressed by something we cant currently shrug off or defeat, when we sad or depressed or none else there to show us(inner child) some care.

Can it be the reason?

I've been there! I do love cards and am a collector, but still I don't want to fill my house with so many decks I can't enjoy them. I find I have little sprees at night, when I can't sleep and am browsing on the internet. Once I identified that time, I try to stay off the computer and instead crochet or something. If you can figure out a pattern that might help.

Also you might try to use Konmari before buying something, if that makes sense, try to figure out if it's something that really brings you joy or if you are buying because you are bored, tired, sad, etc.

TOADIE 12 Steps

Had a little fun this morning modifying 12 steps for us:

  1. We admitted we were powerless over acquiring decks - that our storage had become unmanageable.
  2. Came to believe that a spring cleaning greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  3. Made a decision to turn our Pinterest and Amazon accounts over to the care of our non-TOADIE family members.
  4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of our collection.
  5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our buying habits.
  6. Were entirely ready to reduce our collection to only those decks we "really love".
  7. Humbly asked to increase our storage space.
  8. Made a list of all decks we haven't used for a while, and became willing to make them available for sale or giveaway.
  9. Made direct sales to forum members wherever possible, except when to do so would injure a fellow TOADIE.
  10. Continued to take a comprehensive inventory and when we increased our collection promptly admitted it.
  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our knowledge and understanding of decks we already own.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other TOADIES and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Excellent, thank you.

I'm no collector. Before joining AT, I was owning just 1 Tarot deck (Thoth), 1 Lenormand (Piatnik), 1 Kipper (Mystic), 1 oracle (Gypsy cards), I Ching.
Before buying a deck, I wait at least 1 month. No impulsive shopping in the esoteric shops possible - I have/had all decks they offer. Before getting one new one, I try the Konmari method. So far successfully.
I also don't have an Amazon account.

A pattern: Visiting oracle sites. Certain sections on AT (I've disabled them from view) are hugely enabling. Reading blogs on card reading. Following links.

My recent downfall were ebay ads. The Housewives, the Old English, the Tarock, and the Cards of Destiny were all reasonably priced. I also waited several weeks before buying them. So better no more ebay for me!

I failed again... I bought the tiniest deck of playing cards I've ever seen. For 2 € on a flea market which usually is the safest place because until this very day it never presented me with anything I'm looking for.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I have failed as well. Little tipsy and had the Kindle handy... (d*mn you, Amazon Prime!)...... two decks...
