A new de-enabling thread

Key the theme song from Chariots of Fire!

Songs for the Journey Home:

First, I agree with everything Thorhammer said, but I wanted to add one thing. Not only is the artwork patchy - some good, some bad (sometimes in the same card ), the copy I have is printed on very thin card. And I mean thin, almost a heavy paper. I haven't dared shuffle it, as I'm worried it wouldn't stand up to the use.

The idea behind it is great. The execution of the idea, not so great. :(

Really? How horrid! Mine's on good card, but all the cards have little "tags" from where they were die cut or punched out or whatever the Hel happened. The cards would shuffle fine if it weren't for that . . . for round cards, that is

You could sand those off gently with a nail file. (Oops, that's enabling. :p )

I find the renamed cards confusing but it's really a lovely deck. I have the mini version and wish I had bigger cards, but even if I did, there would be quite some learning for me to do to keep everything straight in my mind.

Debra

Sigh.

Griz is on the right track for DE-enabling, except for the part where she says "it's really a lovely deck."

;)

ETA: Well look at this. The review in tarot passages says, "Both of the creators were followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho), and they each tell their own story of how they came to be involved with Osho and Tarot."

For me, that's a turnoff. Remember this? http://www.religioustolerance.org/rajneesh.htm

It's really interesting that 2 very unusual and beautiful decks came out of that movement....not that anyone should go out and buy either of them, of course. Probably best to handle them with tongs....which should entirely screw up shuffling.

Ok Can't help you with the other two as I do not own them, but what the heck do you need a second copy of the VFO for??? you just need to find your book! *LOL*. MRP decks are durable and wear well, so well the wear doesn't even show! you will not need a second one. Buy a baba bag for yours instead *LOL*

As for the Druid Plant Oracle ... hmmmmmm ... well can't help you much with this one as I finally bought it last weekend, however in an effort I will tell you that cards are really big. I know that was a very a poor attempt I am sure there are others around here that will do a better job than me. *LOL*

And I still do not seem to find any help here to de-enable me from the Paulina ...

Weeeelllll, you DID just buy the Druid Plant Oracle, shouldn't you spend some quality time with that before chasing after some new "skirt"?

If you can deal with bestiality, that'll be a good deck for you.
The art is nice, but as someone said in another thread somewhere, there are things in Thoth that Serio made *darker* than they are in Thoth. For instance, the Cerebrus (3-headed canine) in the Hermit card.

I have the DPO and the DAO - I even Umbraed them and trimmed them down to the flowery borders.
1 - they are still TOO BIG
2 - the backs are different colors, if you try to use them together
3 - after all that trouble, I never use the decks.

Do look there, and be *completely* *honest* with yourself - are you willing to give that deck the months of undivided attention that it needs for you to actually learn? And do you really want to immerse yourself in VOODOO, for crying out loud?

afrosaxon did a great job doing a 3-6 month IDS with the deck, but that's what it took to really learn it, IIRC.

Victorian flower oracle? I.C.K. Another useless theme deck with no organizing principle! (I think. I don't actually have that one - someone may need to correct me on that)

Paulina: pointy chins, every card looks the same, just another of the many art decks masquerading as a RWS clone. Go get a Universal Waite and be done with it!
