Mythic Tarot - Four Wands

Jason assembles some of his Argonauts (the Dioscuri, Castor and Polydeuces; Heracles; Theseus, King of Athens; and Orpheus) as their ship the Argo awaits them. Everyone except Jason and Orpheus hold a flaming wand.

Argonauts
  • set out to obtain the Golden Fleece
  • Athene aided in the building of the Argo by providing a speaking prow
  • there were 50-60 Argonauts according to different sources
Overview
  • a card of harvest and reward
  • the challenge of the new creative idea has been met, hard work has been performed and now one can reap the reward that has been earned through effort
  • assembling those who one knows can help one achieve the new creative idea
  • a pleasant period for deserved rest and relaxation
  • a holiday
  • a moment of celebration before the next stage of the journey begins
Random Thoughts
  • gathering the skill set (whether from others or within oneself) necessary to achieve one’s goal – strength, creative vision, the cutting edge of a clever mind and the deep feeling and empathy with which one can disarm any foe
  • it takes a village to attain a goal
  • a circle of friends is important to the attainment of one’s goal
  • as he’s not holding a wand, Orpheus seems to play the role of “I’m a lover, not a fighter”
  • not holding a wand, Jason appears to be the brains while those who do hold wands appear to be the brawn
  • a group of people whose individual journeys merge for a time to begin a joint journey

The keyword/phrase I came up with in my workbook on 14 Mar 92 was "celebration after hard efforts".
