"Meditations on the Tarot" in the original French

jmd

I'll make greater comments a little later - I'm on my way to a meeting.

I once re-translated a small portion (post No 12 in the thread: Med. on the Tarot - Letter 1) to show that there may indeed be different connotations.

This is not a criticism of Powell's superb translation, by the way...

Important translation issues aside ...

The plain white cover French version that I have seen in French-language bookstores is printed on cheap-quality paper. Poor paper quality is one of my pet peeves and often turns me off a book. The new Putnam English edition of the Meditations - with its high quality almost-parchment-like paper and at half the price of the French version - is a pleasure to have and hold.

I prefer it in English anyway even though I can read generally read that type of French prose without a dictionary, as I can skim faster in English to be able to locate (and re-locate) the more-directly-tarot-related passages in the book. OK, I realize that some will say that the whole book is about the tarot. :)
