A.E. Waite interpretation of the 10 of Cups..

kagura_mai

In the Pictorial Key to the tarot Waite's interpretation of the ten of cups upright... One part he says.. "if with several picture-cards, a person who is taking charge of the Querent's interests; also the town, village or country inhabited by the Quetent." What does he mean by "picture-cards" they all have pictures on them. Forgive me if I am asking a silly question. Mr. Waite is difficult to grasp sometimes.

I think he means "portrait" cards, ie, courts.

Could he mean trumps, debra ? (not that I have the remotest idea...)

Givent the interpretation (i.e., a person) I think he is probably refering to court cards.

I've always found that book Pictorial Key, by Waite a bit of a toiling head spinner to understand... I suppose some of the language used is a reflection of the era it was written in... ?

But I have always taken a picture card to mean a court card, same like a picture card means a court in a regular playing deck...
