Spread for the Cat's Eye Tarot deck...

catdoc

Work towards the publication of the Cat's Eye tarot deck is underway. I am looking for help brainstorming the creation of a unique spread for this deck to include in the LWB.

This seemed a great place to come for ideas. You can find card images in the decks area of Aeclectic Tarot

Thank you

I'm so pleased for you that a publisher recognized how wonderful your art is.
I'll best some of our best 'spreaders' come up with something fresh and usable.

Perhaps one that has the cards arranged resembling the shape of a paw print?

I wish I could come up with something more detailed but I'm no good at designing spreads.

The Queen's Eye Spread

Hi Deb,
Here is one that you may want to use with the Cat's Eye Tarot.
It is a seven card spread in the shape of an eye. This symbolizes the queen's eye.

.....2.....3.....4.....
............1...........
......5.....6.....7....

You can assign your own questions to the cards but here are some of my questions:
Card 1: What should I focus on?
Card 2: Why is this important (how will it improve my life)?
Card 3: Who is coming into light that will help me?
Card 4: What do I need to know about this person?
Card 5: What will I learn from this?
Card 6: Underlying issues associated with Card 1.
Card 7: Advice

I am anxiously awaiting your publication of the deck.

Blessed be,
Lady Marian

Queen's Eye --> Cat's Eye...

LadyMarion,
I like that idea. What do you think of adding 2 more cards to make the "eye" more cat like?
--3---4---5
2-----1-----9
--6---7---8

1. What should I focus on?
2. Why is this important? (history / past influence)
3. Who/what is involved? (external influences)
4. What I know. (internal influence / conscious)
5. What I can learn.
6. Hidden motives.(external)
7. What I don't know.(internal / unconscious)
8. Something else to consider.
9. Where is this going (outcome / future focus)

this link goes to a page that shows what this spread would look like using the Cat's Eye Tarot deck.

9 cards could be a good number. Lynn at US Games thought maybe a "9 Lives" spread. Which started me thinking about a special spread.

I tried a "paw" pattern for laying out the cards, but found it awkward. I like the eye pattern and it fits so nicely with the name of the deck.

Hi Deb,
I added the link to my photo album to show what I was talking about in the above post.LOL

I like your nine card spread too.

Here are some ideas to work with (assign your own questions to them):

The Scratching Post Spread (also called the sword of truth for relationships) (you can use fewer cards if you choose):
.........1......
.........2.....
.........3.....
.........4.....
.........5......
...6....7....8....

Cat's Tail Spread (to deal with life's ups and downs):
...1..................6....7...
.......2...........5.........8...
..........3....4.....

Belly Rub Spread (can be used to make a choice): (1) is the head, (2, 3, 4) is the body, (5, 6, 7, 8) are the legs, and (9, 10, 11) is the tail:

......7............8..............11...
......5............6.........10...
1....2.....3.....4.....9...

Whiskers Spread (card 1 is the nose - the center of the concern) (can be used to sniff out problems):
6..........................9....
...........7.....8.............
3.....2.....1.....4.....5...
........10.......11........
12.......................13...

You are welcome to use my ideas freely as you choose.

Blessed be,
Lady Marian
p.s. Have you considered making a Cat's Eye Tarot calendar through zazzle.com or lulu.com?

Hi Deb,

I was thinking that the spread should be cat-related in some way. Cats are, by repute, able to walk between worlds, to see both the here and the there. Also, cats are well known for walking a sinuous path, that is, never in a straight line So, with those in mind:

Starting out: the supper dish, the warm bed: What you cling to now for comfort.

Dogs and vacuum cleaners: things that scare you and stop you from leaving home.

Interesting smells, noises in the bushes: things that intrigue you, you are not sure what they are exactly but want to know.

The hunting instinct: that which makes you fierce and determined.

The purring instinct: that which you seek for pleasure.

Coming home a changed cat: how you could evolve to be your best self.

I am not good with graphics but I think it should either be a spiral or a sinuous line.

You could make a cat's face maybe... I stink at making spreads, but here are some ideas:

Cat's Ears (maybe 2 cards): What needs closer attention (in this situation)?

Cat's Eyes (maybe 2 cards): What obstacles need sizing up?

Cat's Nose (probably 1 card): Curiosity; heart of the matter.

Cat's Mouth (maybe 3 cards): What needs to be expressed (or actions to take):

and then I thought also, maybe something for the Cat's Whiskers: What you sense about the situation.

But anyway, there are some extra thoughts for you.

Whatever else is in the spread, it definitely needs one card as The Litter Box. It would represent all the things that a person needs to ::ahem:: eliminate from one's life...........
