Tarot software

As a man with cerebral palsy, I cannot shuffle a deck of cards and would need software to do readings. Might anyone know of a good program that also offers many decks to choose from...

I understand that the deck's imagery is secondary to meaning, but I would like the option to use a deck that suits my personality.

I don't know of a program that has multiple decks available to it, but if you have an iPad or an Android tablet there are increasing numbers of decks available for cheap. I've got the Prairie Tarot, Ator Tarot, and a few others that were under $3 each. I've also got a couple more, including Legacy of the Divine and Touchstone that were between $5 and $8 I think. One of the things I particularly like about the tablet apps is that many of them allow you to see the card as a full screen image. Imagine a card shown two to four times the usual card size. It helps me really "sink" into the images and enjoy the details.

By the way, I think the imagery is primary. I read intuitively, by what I see and and feel from the imagery itself. I don't even bother reading the traditional meanings anymore, but I read mostly for my own insight into my subconscious and personal growth.

If you don't have a tablet, I know that Kat Black's Touchstone tarot used to be available for readings online. I'd have to hunt around for it, but try searching on her name, or the deck name, or on 78 friends, which I think is the name of one of her sights. Its a lovely deck.

Good luck!!!

There is the Orphalese software. The free version allows you to use 3 decks, but if you want to use more, you have to pay for the software. But you can use the software for free and have tons of decks for it, you just have to decide for the moment which 3 decks you want to work on now, and move elsewhere in another directory the directories of the other decks.

I LOVE Orphalese. I use the paid for version and have scanned in a load of my decks for it. :)

So - you can scan in your own decks (I would scan a Tavaglione deck) ???? That is very interesting, and since you are scanning it in for your own use it doesn't interfere with copyright laws ??????

As far as I know - no. However, now that you mention it, perhaps I never did any such thing. :bugeyed: (seriously, as far as I know, since I own them, I am OK....)

Visual Tarot

I dropped a few bucks on this software the other day: http://visualtarot.com

More than the spreads, I like being able to visually compare a card across several decks on one screen. For $13 USD you can download many popular decks. It might be a useful tool, particularly for one who has limited range of motion.

Sadly visualtarot is the crooked outfit that was the subject of many threads. It supplies decks in breach of copyright (many artists have complained) and steals credit card info.

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. There is a thread here somewhere.

You can compare cards with Orphalese too. And Orphalese is honest.
