Etteilla Egyptian Gypsies 33

earthair

I've been working with this deck a lot recently after I almost traded it on the train *phew* that I didn't!
Anyway, I now own 3 of the old 1969 printings with the lovely strong card stock - one French only and 2 bi-lingual... and I've just noticed that the 33rd card has no 'Grimaud' printed on it in the bi-lingual printing. Probably something to do with this being a masonic deck?

The plot thickens. There are 3 cards without BP Grimaud along the side. They are
no.8 Etteila
no.33 3 wands / enterprises
no.46 4 cups / boredom

Could be code for - he got a bit bored with designing the tarot? :joke:
Or maybe cards 3 then 4... 34 some allusion to a further secret degree?

Has anyone got a very first edition of this? Is this an inside joke by the printers Grimaud to not put the name on these 3 cards, or was it on the original design?

Hey, another conspiracy lover! Welcome home :) I love this deck, 1989 version. And I had no idea the train was still running.

I like to think I just spot the things which other people miss! :shhh:

I also think that the De La Rea metallic bits are very similar to the EEG coins.
