Leonora Carrington and Tarot

I too wish she had, as she is a wonderful artist. I did not know about her occultist leanings and her link to Jodorowsky, though.

Patrick, in case you're not aware, you will probably find this portion of Adam McLean's phenomenal mega website of interest:
http://surrealism.website/index.html

There are video surveys, articles, and artist retrospectives. The site is loading very slowly for me this morning, so I can't verify a page devoted to Carrington at this time. (If there isn't yet, I can't imagine there won't be in future, as the site is under active construction right now.) But there's definitely one for her friend Remedios Varo.

Cheers.

I am just reading a new biography by a cousin who got to know her in Mexico:

Until I read the blurb, I thought you were talking about a cousin of yours... šŸ˜‚

(Perfectly possible, by the way, just not factual.)

Thanks for this. There is nothing about Carrington yet, alas, but there is a ton of paintings by Varo, who is beyond wonderful, and who died too young.

Sorry Flitzarraga, I didn't make it clear that it was Leonora Carrington's cousin I meant.

Thanks for link, JayBee. I know Adam McLean's website, but hadn't seen this.

A tarot by Carrington or Varo would be a dream.

Video #10 (The Exiles in Mexico) covers Carrington (as well as Varo and Tichenor).

Agreed about Varo. Something about the women painters of Mexico in the 20th century--such power and emotion. (Of course I'm including Frida Kahlo when I say that; my favourite, I think, although Varo is a close second.)

Just ordered a book by Varo - she is indeed wonderful too. She shares my birthday (not the same year)!
