rune readings are more negative than my cards

Hi Jade,
I'm new to the forum, and just finding my feet, plus all the wonderful posts and chat here on the study of runes.

I have some experience with runes, and like you, tended to find that I got 'unhappy' readings using them, whereas with the Tarot it was a much lighter affair.

I think part of the reason for this, is my approach to the runes - I take them more seriously then I do tarot alot, and also I am mindful of how old the runes are.
They have an almost brutal honesty, that I find lacking in the tarot, as well as sensing a raw power inherent in the runes themselves.
Perhaps it is how truthful we're prepared to be with ourselves, that determines how we see a reading?. To me, the runes demand that I be completely honest with myself, and although this can be very difficult, it is often for my own good!.

That's just my thought's on the subject, and I'm looking forward to going through the runes with you all!.
