Cartas de Lotería ~ A Double Take

Fulgour

La Lotería is an old game of chance played throughout Mexico.
It became popular in the last half of the eighteenth century and
although it's rapidly being replaced by modern electronic games,
it is still widely played at festivals, fairs and carnivals.

Despite its name La Lotería most resembles a form
of bingo using pictures instead of numbers.

There is also some speculation that there exists a system
for using these like Tarot cards - but we have not found
out any details about that yet.

From University of Arizona Press:

It's Lotería, the Mexican game of chance! For the uninitiated,
it might seem like bingo played with a riddling Tarot deck.

But this enthralling game is more than entertainment. The images
found on its cards—La Virgen, El Pan Dulce, La Telenovela— are
miniature reflections of an entire culture, capturing the joys and
sorrows of the Mexican people.
