Is that the book he wrote on the Thoth tarot?? If so, that is the one I've been looking for!

oriel

No, it uses the Rider-Waite. His Thoth books are entitled "Keywords for the Crowley Tarot" and "The Crowley Tarot Handbook".

Phoenix

Ahhh. THOSE are the books that I am looking for...LOL! Enjoy your book none-the-less!!

I just bought this book in German. I mean, I think it is the Handbook. It is called Das Arbeitsbuch zum Tarot. I would have translated that to "workbook".

It is the one that has the left hand page just dedicated to the main meaning of the card, and the right hand page to different meanings for the card as placed in his one spread "The Path" or the Way, I am not sure what it would be in English. There are seven positions.

For a long time I hesitated buying this book, for one, because trying to understand German makes me tired :) and for two because I couldn't figure out what the seven positions that he was refering to were. (The copy in the library had the explanation of his seven card spread torn out) Does anyone else have this book? Is this indeed the book you meant?

I just got the Tarot the Handbook by Angeles Arrien and its for the Thoth deck. I signed up for a book club, you buy 4 books over 2 years and you get your first 5 or 6 books free. So it was one of my free books. If anyone is interested in the book club, it's www.literaryguild.com

tarot handbook or tarot workbook

Hi firemaiden,

after I have red your post I`ve first thought you`re talking about a different book than oriel because Banzhaf has written a handbook and a workbook (if you would translate his book titles word by word in english).

but then I did a little research at Hajo Banzhafs side and found out that only the german "Arbeitsbuch des Tarot" has already been translated to english with the english title "The Tarot Handbook". (indeed the better translation would have been "workbook" but he didn`t take this one.) So the books you and oriel are talking about must be the same.

once again:
german - english
Das Arbeitsbuch zum Tarot - The Tarot Handbook (http://www.tarot-astrologie.de/public/buch/english/gb5.htm)
Das Tarot-Handbuch - not jet translated

and some others are:
Das Tarotbuch - not jet translated
Tarot und die Reise des Helden - Tarot And The Journey Of The Hero (http://www.tarot-astrologie.de/public/buch/english/gb2.htm)
Tarot als Wegbegleiter - Tarot as your companion (http://www.tarot-astrologie.de/public/buch/gb.htm)
Der Crowley-Tarot - The Crowley Tarot (http://www.tarot-astrologie.de/public/buch/english/gb4.htm)
Schlüsselworte zum Crowley-Tarot - Keywords for the Crowley Tarot ( http://www.tarot-astrologie.de/public/buch/english/gb7.htm)
Tarot-Deutungsbeispiele - not jet translated

Hi oriel :)

I have that book as part of my collection. It has been very helpful to me in my readings. Hajo offers a unique insight to the tarot. I also have his book on the major arcana. Its a pretty good book also - but he doesn't go into the divinitory meanings too much. He goes into the symbolism mostly. If you want to go deep into the major arcana cards, this is the book to buy. In the end of each section of a major arcana card - he offers some useful information that can be very helpful in readings.

Hope my review was helpful.

Enjoy your book! :CL :CL :CL

Dakini: I have also read The Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien and also thought it was very good. The copy I read was from the library though I would like to buy it next as Its a good reference I found and has all sorts of different spreads to use. I also have the Crowley Tarot by Hajo Banzhaf and am reading it slowly as I find he covers alot of ground and it can be overwhelming at first.

How do others think about this?

I have this book too......
I don't like it.
I like Paul Foster Case and Robert Wang books......
the information in those books differs so much from what Hajo Banzhaf writes that I do not like that book.

How do others think about this?

Love,
Bram S.
