Thanks la-luna Funny you should say that... the Quantum does include string theory. In fact, the Star represents string theory! How weird is that? I know what you mean about the card backs too - illustrations of strings and superstrings are usually shown as these kind of wiggly loops. In the Quantum Star, the woman is supposed to be symbolically allowing the strings to flow from her fingers. It's a kind of representation of how string theory offers the hope of a deeper and more unified understanding of the physical universe.

BTW, here's the source image for the Star on the Hubble website - it's called the Helix Nebula:

Yay thanks franniee Publication date is 1st September, and I believe Amazon is pretty quick on filling pre-orders.

Over the summer, when I have a bit more time, I'll offer some readings with the deck here on AT, so that will be a chance to see it in virtual action

(off-topic - I also hope to finish off the Tarot Tales I owe people over the summer - thanks for your understanding to everyone I've kept waiting. )

I now have a useable file of images with Kunati's border design in place, so gonna start posting them.

As I recently put up the new version of the Star, here it is complete with border. Actually it's not a border. It's a strip along the bottom... but you know what I mean...

The 78th Fool

Thanks Patrick and Em.
Similar to Kay, I can't believe that we're finally about to receive proof copies. Seeing the photo of the box and book made it seem a lot more real. Before we know it, September will come round.

Kunati's designer has done such a good job of the presentation. It's his attention to detail that's so special. As you can see from the photo, the box inner is in golden yellow. What you can't see from this photo is that the back of the box shows the Fool card and the yellow box interior colour co-ordinates with the Fool artwork.

Just as beautifully thought out are the title cards. Normally you'd have a top title card and a dedication card. Because there were two of us, Kam the designer came up with the brilliant idea of two personalised title/dedication cards, each showing us as we appear in the deck. Kay's shows her as seen on the Queen of Wands, mine shows me as seen on the King of Pentacles. Each title card was given text or a dedication of our own choice. I've attached them here. Excuse the text on Kay's card - I only have the early draft on file so they've typed in gibberish where the text (a quote from William Blake) will finally appear.

Now here's some wonderful news!!
Kay and I have spent the week consolidating our list of prospective advance reviewers for the Quantum Tarot. We've been very fortunate as everyone we approached has agreed to give us a review.

Among these are a couple of 'big names' we didn't think we'd stand a chance with. Our heartfelt thanks to all these reviewers - your time and efforts are greatly appreciated in advance.

The extra good news is that Rachel Pollack is running a series of Tarot events and workshops across Australia from July 7th, over a five week period. Rachel has kindly agreed to act as an advance reviewer and, better still, she will be taking an advance copy of the Quantum with her on her travels so that she can offer readings with it !!!!!!!

If you're in Oz and you're attending one of these events, talk nicely to Rachel and you might get a peek at the first ever advance copy to be put out. If you get a reading with the deck, let us know how it goes.

Beleive it or not, because of the need to get the deck to Rachel before she set out, Derek our editor has relinquished one of his two prototype copies for her (That's the chivalry of a true Troubadour! ). We haven't got ours yet as the first consignment of proper advance copies won't be ready for a couple of weeks!

What about Three Drunken Graces?
The photos were taken at the Greyhound after all !!

I'm glad you like this! When we first did the deck we were short on models and had to use some stock photography. By the time we came to do the revisions I'd already done the photoshoots for the Greylight Tarot so we decided to re-use a lot of Aeclectic faces in The Quantum as well. I'm glad we did as you all look fantastic.

Thanks Em and All is One too. Yes indeed, Rachel's offer to take the deck with her to Australia came as a great boost. I'm really looking forward to getting feedback from her, not only on how she found readi ng with the deck, but also how her querents respond to it too.

Em - I bet you're really thrilled with the Transparent's Amazon progress. At one stage you were number 2 in their top 100 for Tarot. That's a major achievement and really bodes well for its release. Likewise, we've been thrilled by how well the Quantum's doing. Kay keeps a regular eye, although I'm sometimes scared to look in case we've plummetted !

No - it's right. The day we were at no.8, the Transparent was at No.2.

Have a look at the attachment below as well - this has just started appearing on the Quantum's Amazon page. We seem to be boosting each other's sales!

Please tell me - I'm very curious. How can you determine the "top 100 tarots" on Amazon? I've searched, and queried, but don't come up with anything. Thanks for any help...

(and yes, I've already made my contribution to getting this deck up in its rarefied placement - Congratulations, Chris and Kay!)

Thanks Guys! If you're looking for and Amazon Tarot ranking, have a look on the Quantum Tarot's Amazon page for example - it will be the same for any Amazon tarot product. If you scroll down you'll find the sales stats. It will give you the products general Amazon rank in 'Books', then you get the more specialised rankings below; in our case the deck's ranking in the 'Tarot' sub section.

Thanks for your comments All Is One, tabbycat, whipsilk and Sidhe-Ra. Actually I'm a little sad as we seem to have lost our pairing with the Transparent on amazon That pesky Mystic Dreamer has sneaked up without our permission - I think we should complain!

However, the big news is that our advance copies have arrived!

Chris has already unpacked his and done a reading, but I'm stuck at work so I haven't even seen them yet. But from what I hear the quality has exceeded all our expectations - yay! We'll post some snaps asap.

Yes, They're here and they are unbelievable !!!!!

As the artist, you're always worried about the quality of the finish and the colour re-production but I have to say, Kunati have surpassed all of my highest expectations. This is how the deck would have looked in my dreams. The bonus is this is also how it looks in reality.

I'll post a photo of the first reading later but in the meantime, I've taken some shots of the deck 'out of the box' for you to see.

Thanks moonboy, baba-prague and Em I'm home, I got my decks and I am indeed beaming! The box is very sturdy, the book is beautifully produced - lovely sleek paper none of your loo-roll stuff - and the cards are breathtaking. The colours are much move vivid than I'd dreamed was possible, the backs are luscious and the silver gilding is much more subtle than I expected. It works a treat! Chris and I are both in seventh heaven - we couldn't have asked for better.

Thanks guys!!

We're very pleased indeed (and just a bit proud as well !!).

The presentation is a real credit to Kunati and I think it speaks volumes about their attention to detail as well as the pride they take in producing everything to a high standard.

It's also a real credit to the printers. Karen, I remember you saying how Alex likes to go to the printers so that he can have an input where colour balancing etc is concerned. In an ideal world, that's what I'd like to do but when you're in Liverpool and the printer is in Hong Kong then that's out of the question !!

I needn't have worried - these guys really know their stuff. There are certain cards I knew could potentially be problematic (The King and Queen of Cups, The Page of Pentacles and the Chariot). As the artist looking at the finished print, I can tell that whoever did the job has taken a great deal of care to get the colour, the brightness and the contrast perfectly balanced.

At least I can look at the deck and know that it's as close as possible within the confines of the printing process to what I wanted to achieve. Also, the card lamination looks durable but it's satin finish and fairly unobtrusive.

All in all, we got the best case scenario If I had a bottle of Bolly in the fridge I'd be popping the cork. As I haven't, I'm settling for a cup of Earl Grey and a bag of chips instead!

Chris. xx

PS. Em, Dearest Heart - your Avatar's gone all nebulous! Are you having an attack of the Quantum Vapours or is it just the way I photoshopped you !!??
