General Oracles Study Group Week 9 PART TWO

DragonFae

This is an exchange week where I caused a lot of confusion. Life just sort of overwhelmed for a bit but its back on track right now. So the week is half over, I've posted partner exchanges for the four people who wanted to do the exchanges but I thought I'd include a short exercise this week too since I threw everyone off!!

Using your deck select a card that you think answers the following questions about life....(your perspective of course) You can either look through the cards and pick one....or do a blind draw of a card to answer each one.

1 . What is life's purpose?

2. How does one find their path in life?

3. When things in life get tough, what should you do?

Hope everyone has a GREAT week....full moon is here tonight so I am blaming it for everything being crazy....:) :)

1 . What is life's purpose?

2. How does one find their path in life?

3. When things in life get tough, what should you do?

Good questions, I would like to know these things too. :)

I am sure the Oracle Fairy knows better than me, so the cards were chosen "at random" (to use the scientific term for "we don't know why").

Earth Magic by itself says

1. Wind (Activation) - Spirit activates matter by breathing life into it, activity itself is the purpose.

2. Tree (Grounding) - Be still and quiet, observe Nature and watch for any messages coming from hidden depths (you may notice patterns e.g. with the weather). This picture is also on the back of every card in the deck, so may be suggesting the answer may be found here.

3. Mountain (Strength) - Feel the strength and power of endurance that you have within yourself, you can outlast the storms that blow around you.

If you want to be strict with the exercise and stick to three Oracle cards only, then don't read the rest ;)

Having cheated by asking the Mystic Dreamer Tarot to help narrow down the possible interpretations,

1. 8 of Pentacles - The activation of matter is a form of creative art. We can see from scientific observation that one of the key characteristics of the Universe is that it likes to produce ever more variety. The clouds of hydrogen and helium formed by the Big Bang have gradually developed into stars, planets, moons etc., all of which are different. The evolution of life has created even more difference, and intelligence yet more again. Just think of the continually increasing number of Tarot decks. The purpose is therefore to produce variety, but also awareness that can appreciate it.

2. Chariot (reversed) - Don't go rushing around looking for the answer, chill out and it will come to you.

3. The Emperor - The idea of strength and stability is confirmed, also concentrating and appreciating those things that are within your control.

Sorry, I dashed this off in a bit of a rush, these issues may deserve a bit more consideration but I want to watch something on the telly in two minutes.

This is great! I've been so swamped preparing for a show that I haven't been doing the exercises. Shows are friday and saturday, and I'm ready now, so perhaps I'll have time to do this. Unfortunately, I STILL haven't found my Druid Plant and Animal Oracles. I'm inclined to do this with my new Mary-el Tarot. I know that's not in keeping with the Oracle study, but these questions are good ones, and I'm finding this deck to be so luscious for personal exploration. And in many ways its very non-tarot-y.

Let me know if you'd prefer I not post any results I get with the Mary-el. If I decide to do this with an oracle, of course I will post.

ETA: did it anyway ...

1 . What is life's purpose?

5 of Cups (an eight-legged unicorn lays on a fountain) - Take it in, pass it on, absorb it all, look, be, create, be strong, wait, flow but be yourself. Life's purpose is, in short, to be genuinely, completely, purely, YOUR SELF and no one else. In all your uniqueness, all your power, all your subtlety, all your richness ... be YOUR best possible SELF.

2. How does one find their path in life?

7 of wands (a white wolf looks out at me with green eyes) - Look deeply into my eyes, I will tell you all you need to know. One's path can only be found within. No one else can tell you where to walk or what to do.

3. When things in life get tough, what should you do?

The Tower - burn it down and start anew. Destroy what isn't working, and rebuild out of the ashes of the failures. Be strong, know that you have the power to destroy and the power to create. Destruction is only the beginning ... the catalyst for change.

Wow...both of your cards really seemed to fit the questions. I hope to get to this a bit later.

Today was a major presentation for the boss before we take it before the board...(breathing sigh of relief).....so maybe I'll get some time in tomorrow night to try the exercise.

I'll look through and pick cards since mine is not an all purpose deck.

1 . What is life's purpose?

Card 29- Christmas Rose- A Gift of Love
It is one, and we should do our part so others feel the same.

2. How does one find their path in life?

Card 30- Cornflower- Constructive Relationship
You are who you hang around with.

3. When things in life get tough, what should you do?

Card 32- Alpine Star- Tenacious Attachment
Grit your teeth and hold on. :D

That is a very determined effort Rosie, but perhaps you need another Oracle deck. Make sure it's one with a wide range of meanings though, and don't use porno playing cards (I found one in a wood once, 6 of Clubs - you are going to lose your trousers).

I happen to have another Oracle deck. (Surprise, surprise. ;) )
I shall certainly avoid porno playing cards. I think that was wise advice. *straight-faced*

I should be ready to use my new deck in a week or two, then I'll go back and do the previous exercises. :)

You've got some great answers there, I'm glad we got a few different opinions. I would say a Tarot deck is just a particular style of Oracle deck anyway, and your cards and interpretations seem to be quite a bit different from the RWS, especially if you're reading the pictures rather than using well known RWS interpretations. :cool3:

Thanks, 2dogs ... yes, I always read off the image, rather than from what the book says, or what a particular card is "supposed" to mean. :) Its a lot more fun that way, and I feel as if I'm listening to MY intuition, rather than someone else's.

I have been using the messages from animal guides but I thought I would switch to the power animals and get to know them a bit better and here I thought would be a nice way to see what they thought about me..

Well I shuffling and picked one the plan had been to shuffle and pick for the others but 2 popped out which just seemed to fit perfectly so obviously desperate not to get missed ;)

1 . What is life's purpose? Deer- Pathfinder- Trust your instincts to guide you

I just feel this deer is a female and they mother and look after the herd keeping away of trouble and leading the others with their white tails.. The white is interesting this is a feeling of hope and healing and in the past it has been mentioned about being a light worker of some sort.. so perhaps this is leading people onto the paths meant for them using my 'white tail' to guide them. There is a feeling of being aware and the deer is sensitive so perhaps utlising those empathic skills to pick up whats beneath the surface. I am not sure why but I feel drawn to creation so perhaps my purpose is to create something which will inspire others? The deer often appears as a sign of fertility I have a family so this part of my life purpose has been fulfilled :p

2. How does one find their path in life? Moose- Authority- You know what is best for you

He reminds me of the hermit going it alone so I think I have to take control of the path here it is not going to come to me and I will have to make it happen. I think there is a feeling that this mooses head is weighed down a lot perhaps I need to not let things play on my mind too much and just go with the gut instinct here. Also his antlers are shaped like a bowl ready to catch raindrops.. catch ideas.. Again this creature is linked to feminity maternal aspects perhaps I need to pull these more to the surface to get where i need to be?

3. When things in life get tough, what should you do? Owl- Omens- Pay attention to signs
The owl for me is about wisdom so I need to look for places with wisdom people who have experience and who know in order to advice me. Ask from above too they always send signs and be aware.. open eyes to all posibilities and use all of the senses to create pure focus. The owl can look behind perhaps at times I need to remember where I come from in order to see how far I have come.

This was interesting in deed thanks dragonfae made a change to use this deck.. :)
