5 swords vs. 9 cups

BLFO

Concerning a wish coming true, can the 5 swords be the same as the 9 cups as someone having Victory?

I asked the card if I would meet someone by the end of Spring and I got the 5 swords, so I wasn't sure that meant "yes, you will win (have victory)", or not.

5 swords = 9 cups as for a wish, desire coming true?

I always see the man in this card has upset other people, so it aint a nice victory

I agree with scorpio here. you will probably be the one to offer your shoulder for him to cry on to. And win his heart through his weakness/vulnerability. It doesn't have to be bad as long as you don't actually CAUSE the breakup...

9 of cups is usually seen as a wish card. But each card has a shadow aspect that balances the light, even if you don't use reversals.

The shadow of the 9 of cups means be careful what you wish for.

In the context of this reading, you need to find the relevence of the entire message; what all the cards put together are saying with regards to the situation you are reading about.

Yes, I also often get this meaning for the 5 of Swords. So, in your context, BLFO, it may mean that you will meet someone by the end of spring, but it won't turn out how you want it to. (i.e. the person may be the opposite of what you are looking for, or something to that effect.)

Victory but at a cost.

You may want to be very careful to confirm that anyone you meet isn't otherwise involved (that is, that there won't be a loser should you get together).

I have gotten a 9 cups for a wish card and a thing did happen, but it wasn't a happy ending. It was happy for a short while like a day and it all went sour.

So....9 Cups or 5 Swords doesn't automatically mean a good or bad with me. I try to stay neutral in my interpretations of cards as possible, because the illustration or meaning doesn't always go as said. For instance, people tend to think that 2 cups means a happy emotional union, or romance. I have gotten 2 cups when I am having an terrible fight with someone where we are exchanging emotions.

Yes you will but it probably won't last so long as you are expecting more than you will actually receive.
