Card Shuffeling Machine

dadsnook2000

Yesterday we celebrated my mother-in-law's 93rd birthday at a nice restaurant and later went shopping. I noticed a card shuffeling machine, a device in which you place half the card on one side, the rest on the other side, and then turn the handle. The cards get intermixed and stack up below -- you gather them up and do this several times. Does anyone use one of these to save their deck from bending and creasing, or the edges getting mangled over time? Dave

Hmmmm. Well, that may work in the casinos, but I'm a firm believer that the Querent should shuffle their own cards so that their "energy" or whatever will be passed on to the deck. On the other hand, there are other people who shuffle the cards for their Querents, so it may be useful for them. I just never connected to automatic things in the realm of Tarot, including online readings etc. Something that revolves around the organc and personal worlds, like Tarot, should saty that way, in my opinion.

I wondered the same thing that Lee did...size of machine for size of cards...unless you can slide something over to fit the deck you use.

If I were doing a live reading, I would still have the sitter handle the deck after the shuffle...I have no opposition to using one...when we read online or over the phone or by e-mail, we are the ones who shuffle and handle the deck anyhow.

Let us know if you get any follow-up information.

LOL...with my luck.......

I screwed up putting fanning powder on my old IJJ Swiss, and by leaving some in the bag, threw them out, then later, while recovering them, bent one....

Years ago, the had those long tubes at the banks. You put your checks in the evelope and sent it down the tube. Once the machine ate up all the checks...and there were pay checks, checks from the state or government...what a nuisance to get them canceled and reissued.

So...I'd probably sit there all ready to read, put the deck in the shuffler and watch the shuffler eat a few cards along the way.

Unless I used it before the sitter came so I could be sure they were shuffled well.

The only thing that might bother me...is the "high-tech" nature of the machine. Like Umbrae, I use an hourglass instead of a clock or timer when I read live. (Also, I have my husband pick up his phone upstairs and ring me up down in the office...so I can say..."Sure I'm ready for you. Come on over.")

No Way.

Hi,
I totally dissagree with the card shuffling machine, sorry, but I am a great believer in treating the Tarot with the utmost respect. Sticking them in a machine would go against the grain for me I am afraid,
It is also very important to get the querant to shuffle the cards. I would cleanse the cards regularly to stop them becoming sluggish and charge them up regularly too. They become tired just like us and need to have their batteries recharged regularly particularly after difficulr readings.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter who shuffles the cards. I'm getting arthritis in my hands, and some days it's quite painful to shuffle, so this would be of interest to me.

The card shuffling machines sold in Germany are for standard sized playing cards which are much shorter than most tarot decks. Besides, you can only put about 60 cards in such a machine.

I worked in a casino for five years. Only one particular game used a shuffling machine. All the big games like poker and blackjack were shuffled by hand and the decks were changed once every 24 hours.

Auto-shuffle tarot cards? ICK!

The only one's I've ever seen were really noisy...

Hmm, I think I could get into that, a new tarot deck every 24 hours... :D Tarot Garden would love me!
