claircognizance

dawntarot

Greetings all,

So I finally found the word for my psychic experiences: claircognizance, or "clear knowing". Essentially I suddenly know things there's no possible way I could know. It isn't anything really grand, usually it happens in conversations with people and I will pick up on what they are thinking or are about to say next. It can also be their knowledge or experiences but this happens less often. It's like being an empath, but with thoughts. I've found it can also work the other way, that I can "give" them my thoughts too, but this doesn't work with all people, only those who are very "open", if you know what I mean.

I'm also clairsentient to an extent, but this seems to come and go.

I would be really interested in developing my claircognizance. I searched the forums but didn't find much on how to do this. I know it's linked to my crown chakra, which I've become very aware of recently, and that would explain my long-term love for clear quartz :p but is there anything I can do to hone this ability?

Thanks
Dawn

Yes, 'clear knowing'/claircognizance. I have that ability too. My biggest problem is at times not 'trusting' what I get. I just had this happen to me last week. We had an upright freezer that was not working properly and had to get rid of it. I put it out at the end of the driveway for our trash people to pick up as pre-arranged, and a neighbor came up to our door that day before the trash people came asking if he could have it. Apparently, he is a repair man and thinks he can fix it. So, I gave it to him instead.

Funny thing is, right after this freezer died on us, and we had replaced it with two smaller and new freezers, I had the above scenario play out in my mind. The whole scenario almost word for word, except that the mans face in my scenario was not visible--it was a blur. Otherwise, I'd had known it was our neighbor "C". When this scenario did play out for me--I was very much awake--it was in the middle of the day--not tired at all--but I just kept pushing it aside thinking it was my imagination. I do this often with things.

Anyway, you did ask about developing this and there are a few exercises that you can do. I found this website that offers some fantastic exercises for developing many of the clair abilities people wish to have. just do a search for 'claircognizance' and you'll find it--

actually, I may as well copy that portion here--
Claircognizance Exercises

While sitting quietly, close your eyes and focus your attention on the top of your head. Visualize a large funnel or cone above your head, the narrowest point just above your head, extending upward to the widest point, about a foot above your head. Notice any impressions you receive, no matter how faint or unusual they may be. You can do this while thinking about a specific event or situation, and see if you can predict certain things, such as things that might happen to you that day, or perhaps people you will run into unexpectedly. Or you can just do this in a general way, by opening yourself to whatever may come through. It is important to acknowledge what you receive. Don't just chalk it up to imagination right away. Make a note of what you perceive, no matter how strange or farfetched it might seem at first. With practice you'll discover your accuracy improving, and likely this ability will begin activating itself without any effort on your part. You'll be one of those people who say, "I just know."

Another exercise that I often share with others is with your tarot deck. Shuffle the deck well and with your eyes closed, try to determine which card is on top. Perhaps instead of trying to figure out the exact card--try to determine first what colors are in the card, and/or if the character in the card is a woman or man. something rather easy like that. Don't beat yourself up over it if you don't get it right, because even when you do have the clairgonizant ability-you're not going to always be 100%.

There use to be and may still be a game here on AT that is great for developing this skill as well. I will try to do a search for it and come back to add it here. But it involved someone 'hiding' an object in their home--and other people here on AT would have to find it or describe it. It is really a fun game, so I do hope it is still ongoing. It is a great way to develop this ability, as well as your clairvoyant ability too.

The other two pieces of advice I would have for you is to meditate - even if only for 5 minutes a day. meditation really seems to help our abilities to take hold, in my opinion. Its not easy at times to find even 5 minutes to meditate--but trust me, if you can--it will serve you well. so, try to incorporate a meditation time into your busy schedule.

The other piece of advice that I have is for you to read everything you can get ahold of that has to do with psychic abilities. do a google search for claircognizance and any other of the clairs. You'll find a lot of information on the web. read, read, read and read some more! Also, check out you tube for any meditations they may have that also will deal with claircognizance development. There are sure to be many on there.

and, don't try to 'rush' yourself. take it as it comes. be patient. be consistent with your practice and meditation. all this will help. there are bound to be days/weeks when you might not have the time to do it--don't beat yourself up over that--just get back to it as soon as you are able. with patience, practice and diligence, it will develop stronger and you'll get a better hold of this ability. Oh! and most important of all---

HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! :D

Hi celticnoodle, thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I am going to try to get into regular meditation, as I think that quietness will make it easier to discern the messages I'm getting. Hopefully over time I'll be able to get more than just the random flashes I'm getting at the moment. ;)

Thanks again
Dawn :)

What would you like to do with it? Use it for psychic or for spirit?

I would like to develop greater control over it, eventually - to be able to use it at will, rather than it happening in the random way it does now. I'm not sure how useful it would be since it's generally quite mundane information I get through, such as knowing what someone will say, or who has just sent me a text, that sort of thing.

this is just the start, dawntarot, honey. trust me. the more you use it and the more you get a handle on it, understanding it and exercising this ability-the better and more detailed your information will get!

You are doing the right thing, since you want to understand it and control it--to find out how to develop it more. It can also be used in so many ways. If you decide further down the road to become a psychic reader--this can come in handy. You will also begin to notice other abilities coming about too--once you get a hold on one--others tend to appear as well.

If you decide not to become a psychic reader--and just use it for yourself and those very close to you - in your inner circle, then that is fine too. Understanding it and controlling it is key right now--the rest can be determined as you move along. You may even change your mind on it-who knows. But, do develop it, since it interests you, and learn all you can about it. And, always use your ability/abilities for the greater good--or you may suffer the consequences. But, also--ENJOY IT. It would be a shame to have the ability and find it burdensome.

I also have it. This is the way I do readings. It is very nerve-racking, because I am not sure if I will "get" anything until I actually sit and try to connect. Then all of the information just floods in. But with me I only get one step ahead of where I am right now, so I know what I will say or write next in the reading, but nothing further than that. It's like a story is playing out in my head, and I'm describing and retelling it as it does.

I don't think there are any exercises to help develop it, except for practice.

But I wonder, could you try a practice like automatic writing? I have been communicating with a being for nearly two years, and this is how we generally communicate. Now I don't need to use the writing as much, but I trust it more than what I receive in meditation for some reason. It's more immediate to me when I am writing— or in my case, typing.

It used to be very difficult, but now it is no more difficult than sitting down with a good friend for a chat. Now higher beings than he are sometimes more difficult to contact, but still not very much so. But these are mostly "Gods" and such that are difficult to communicate with anyway.

So perhaps communicating with a being at or slightly above your own level would be a good practice. This might sound like clairaudience, but for me the information just comes as I said. Perhaps a spirit guide, angel, or someone like that, would be good to start with. Then you can work your way up the ladder, so to speak.

Also, practicing by doing intuitive readings for others might help. I used to think this was impossible for me, but now it has gotten a lot easier. You just have to learn to trust your impressions.Sometimes the most minor impressions that I was tempted just to ignore were the most impactful to a person.

That's very true, that last sentence - that the most minor tiny things are sometimes very important. I think yes, the answer is to practice. Like anything else even using muscles, it gets easier and less effort the more you do it. But for me, before I do anything, I have to know why I'm doing it :) but that's just me. You could either read tarot with extra depth and vision, or you can branch off into the mediumy stuff . Either way its good fun!

Hi Dawn,

I'm not disputing that you have claircognizance, but what you've actually described sounds more like telepathy. The way you described being able to both send and receive others' thoughts sounds much more like telepathy.

A friend and I once experimented with it, and we found that although I'm not such a good receiver I can send pretty well. My friend and I were playing partners at a game of euchre and were able to win by "talking" across the table. LOL

That's a really interesting thought, actually. I thought that for it to be telepathy, the person had to be actively trying to send or receive the message - am I wrong in thinking that?

I used to play a game with a friend where we would state three random objects in the room - "lamp, table, chair" - and then try to guess which one the other was focusing on. We would sit back to back to make sure we weren't picking up body language. I was pretty good at the game and rarely guessed wrong. Like I said, sending is a bit more hit and miss, and depends largely on how "open" they... feel? Not sure what word to use.

So if this is telepathy - is practise also the key? Does distance affect accuracy?

Cheers
Dawn :)
