Cleaning old cards?

I have bought a used old deck, perhaps even antique. The cards are in a very good condition, all old print intact, structurally sound, but some are a little dirty. The dirt appears to be not ground-in, which makes me think they can be cleaned fairly easily. How can I clean them without damage done to the print and the cards?

I dinna know how to clean these kinds of cards... and, like thee, wouldst be afraid to try without some kind of guidance... Maybe posting this in the 'Tarot Deck Creation' forum will get your answer... All those artists must know how to take care of their cards in this regard, aye???
