Fox

strangebrew

Hi everyone,

I had a dream that i was in the company of a woman who was looking after a fox. She said it was a little nervous. The fox then jumped up on my lap and started to to rub his face around mine and i was stroking and cuddling it. The fox felt like a dog or cat and very tame

Am guessing this could represent a part of me, that i will trust myself more or either it could mean i may have someone in my life with the fox's characteristics who may become closer to me and trust me more

Any comments?

Thanks :)

Vixen, usually the word for a female fox, is also a derogatory term for a woman. I assume you know this. The Druid Animal Oracle has a nice chapter on the fox. I'll have a look when I get home tonight and write some more.

Thanks BE! :) Yes a fox can mean a sexy woman also ;). The fox was definately male even though i referred to him as it :)

I think the concept in our culture of comparing the fox to women is sort of a sexist thing, as is any of the comparisons to women and animals - the feminists have a field day with this sort of thing, how animals are something to be controlled and blah blah blah. Of course, we grow up hearing stuff like this, so who knows how your mind sees it and incorporates it into a dream.

According to a book I have on altars:

the Greek god Dionysis shapeshifted into a fox on occasion, and his Lydian priestesses wore fox skins and were called Bassarids.

The fox denotes cunning and intelligence, wisdom. They also symbolize remaining unobserved, and avoiding trouble.

Maybe the fox in your dream was a totem spirit visiting you - or maybe the qualities of the fox are something you should be considering in your life right now.
I dream about animals a lot - too much for it to mean anything, as I think, read about, talk about, and draw/paint animals all the time!

Thanks for your input Bhavana, i feel i do need to take on the qualities of the fox at times but also feel i have someone in my life who has been very cautious and sly in a way but who is now opening up to me.....interesting!! :D

Roy's using clairvoyance. I saw a dinosaur. The dream is telling you you're insecure and don't trust people. Also that you're fiery and overreact to others

in Lenormand the Fox card can be both positive or negative depending on how you look at it. represents shrewdness, cunning, cleverness, betrayal and deceit. that would be good in some areas like business but bad say in love. maybe the meaning of that fox applies to your dream?

Also the symbology sounds like the Strength card in tarot but with the woman and a fox instead of lion!

Thanks Daniel! I think because the fox was very affectionate and warm and i didnt fear him, hopefully, this could have a good message, although the fox in general is very cunning, so maybe i still need to be careful :)

How did the dinosaur make you see that?
