I'm a big believer in animal spirits, strangebrew, and i seem to be interpreting your dream in line with such concepts. If you don't find that you especially resonate with ideas like these, then my take won't mean very much to you, and if that's the case, fair enough! But if animal spirits and animal guides are something you can get on board with, conceptually speaking, then I believe your dream could very well be a message about your own animal spirits...

I think each of us can have one or more animal spirits surrounding us in our lives -- some are with us for life, and others can show up for specific purposes with finite durations. I can't say which this dream would be indicating. I'd ask you, though, if you feel you have any animal guides or personal animal spirits that work with you? If you're not aware of any, or if you are, but the fox has never been one of them, I'd suggest that maybe you might consider the possibility!

It says a lot to me that not only did you have a vivid dream about a fox in the first place, but you were even told in the dream that this particular fox was nervous...but then he jumped right into your lap anyway, like a pet or a familiar. To me, this could signify a real mutual affinity -- that is, the fox could be one of your own personal animal spirits or guides. If this idea seems interesting to you, I'd offer that just researching what the fox means as a symbol, checking into how the fox has figured in various mythologies, and looking at some images of foxes, could be very helpful and meaningful for you. The fox has some very fine traits, and this could be a great relationship for you to have and cultivate!

Just a different take from what you've heard so far...

Wow frac_ture that really resonated with me...i believe that could be a valid reason why the fox came to me and your input made so much sense. Thanks for coming in and posting that, really positive and uplifting words ~ appreciated x Will go research that beautiful creature now

You're welcome! I'm glad my post may have been helpful for you. I think exploring connections with our guides can be fabulously beneficial, so I hope some exploration of the fox can yield a lot of positive results for you!

I love frac_ture's take on this. Foxes in dreams are unusual, so it makes sense that he's an animal guide.

Whatever he's bringing to you or guiding you on, it's clear that it was something you were rejecting before but are ready to accept now. That shows growth. Good for you! :D

Blessings,
Rainbow

yes, frac ture is so right about the qualities of the fox, one of my favorite animals - and one of the most beautiful as well. Sly, yes, but not in a bad way - and so playful and serene. I love to paint foxes, they feature in a lot of my drawings and paintings.

rainbowgryphon and Bhavana, thanks for backing me up! I'm happy you both saw some merit in what I was saying. I know that I've had occasional dreams that feature animals or deities, and I always wake from them feeling totally touched and honored, and then I hit the internet hard in a quest to learn everything I can about them, and to see if they really might be functioning as guides for me. This has never failed to prove interesting at the very least, and it can really lead to some serious metaphysical progress!

That's an intriguing point: the jumping into your lap could very well mean some kind of past resistance to the fox is now gone, and the animal is now bursting forth to make contact...:) Great concept, Rainbow!

Yes, I totally agree with the part about "Sly, but not in a bad way." I grew up in the northeastern US, and foxes are native there. Just terrific creatures. Having the fox as a personal animal spirit would be a pretty great thing!!

Thanks very much Rainbow, Bhavana and Frac_ture for your helpful and positive input. I can relate at times to the fox. Being a scorpio i can be very secretive and wary of people (not so much now as when i was younger). I am also aware of the beauty of this animal and it coming to me makes me feel i need to embrace all that it is. Sly, yeah, but also *bright eyed and bushy tailed* comes to mind too :)

the northeast is where I live, in the pinelands in southern nj....foxes ARE plentiful here! But, they are secretive, and careful not to get near humans, so seeing one is always a special moment. I lived in a house on the edge of the woods once, and I used to throw my left over parrot food along the treeline...one morning at dawn the crows were going crazy caw-ing so I got up to go look out the back window, and there at the edge of the woods, eating leftover nuts and dried fruit and other parrot chow was the most beautiful red fox I had ever seen. Even there, with the cover of the woods and the early hour, he was still nervous, eating and looking around, eating and looking around, ready to run at any second...I continued to throw the old seed mix there, and he visited often - the crows always let me know when he was there!

they are often solitary too - but not like previously thought. They might hunt and spend time alone, but they also can mate for life, are generally monogamous, and get together with their mate to groom and play and do whatever it is that foxes do in their free time. I like that they have both cat and dog like qualities! Also, I have read that under certain conditions, they form little families or packs like wolves, with an alpha pair. But this is only in certain types of situations - it isn't their normal way of doing things. Interesting animals for sure! And they also have that penetrating gaze that so many scorpios have...So yes, embrace your inner fox!!
