Grounding

Greetings, all -

I could use a little advice about grounding. I have tried various methods, such as visualisation, shielding, physical exercise, eating wholefoods, and nothing seems to help for very long. Something might work for a few days, and then suddenly I feel as overfilled with energy as I did before. I feel 'wired' most of the time, but sometimes suddenly exhausted for no real reason, like all the energy has suddenly dissipated.

I do have some 'psychic' abilities, but nothing overly grand or specific. Things seem to happen to me suddenly, like flashes of knowledge I can't otherwise explain (often quite intimate), and I'm very sensitive to the people around me, sort of empathic, but not quite. Sometimes I can place my hands on an object and I will learn things about where it came from, stuff like that, but again, this doesn't happen all the time. In a way I have shied away from developing my intuition for fear that I'll have even more problems with my energy levels than I do already.

I sort of feel like an energetic sponge that needs squeezing out, and I haven't yet figured out a method that does this effectively.

So - do you have any advice? What methods of grounding work for you?

Thanks for your help,
Dawn

Have you tried crystals?

It sounds to me like you're going around in a perpetual state of psychic openness. What would benefit you most would be to learn to close it off and open it up at will so that you can have control over this. Developing your natural skills would help with this, but you could also try meditating to try to open and close to this. I wish I had more substantial advice, but if you can learn to control it a little in a meditative state and practice you should be able to control it in a waking state soon after. This is just a skill you will need to develop.

In the meantime you might want to place the palms of your hands flat on the floor or a table top or any flat surface. Then send the excess energy down into what you've got your hands on, visualizing it "draining" down into the ground. As long as you remain perpetually open as you seem to have been you will need to periodically ground yourself. These grounding techniques that work for a couple days will just need to be done every day or two. It's just a matter of finding which method you prefer until you can open and close at will.

Sometimes it can be beneficial to look at a whole body approach starting with health and nutrition. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause that 'wired' feeling too. Lack of B12 can cause anxiety and anger problems for example. So an overhaul of nutrition to start.

Then looking at stress factors and psychological triggers in daily life, work etc. Stress can place our bodies and minds in permanent fight or flight mode where we feel wired all the time and pick up everything. Our bodies are meant to do this, it's part of our survival mechanism but typical grounding, meditation and relaxation exercises can help us to identify the cause of the problem and give us ways to remedy it too.

Finally working with meditation to strengthen our mental skills and hone perception without it overwhelming us. Just 10 minutes a day of quiet meditation can be a major boost. There are several ways to meditate, one is to become blank, another is to allow something to come up and just sit with it - the latter can really help us to work through and face things which need to be dealt with.

Basic grounding though, well, I just go outside, get into the garden and get my hands dirty. When I come back in tired and yet refreshed, I know it has worked. Sometimes a cup of tea and a biscuit (or a glass of water and a biscuit in my case) consumed with attention and intention is very grounding too.

I find this a really interesting thread for me as well and I've found already that going to do some gardening or walking in parks in nature, seems to calm me down.

I am trying to get much better at focus and meditation as well. Calm things down and ground myself more :)

Yoga

I have recently become involved with yoga. I am 55, so don't think it is only for the young and flexible! It is moving meditation and might be worth a try for you.

I think Milfoil might be onto something with the health issues. Is there any pattern to the exhaustion, i.e., does it tends to happen at certain times of the day? I was getting something similar and it turned out to be adrenal problems. Dr. Rind has some interesting thoughts on intuition and adrenals in footnote #3.

The only time I feel grounded is when I'm mowing - I love my scythe.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your replies and suggestions. I don't have perfect health, but my "wired" feeling was on the go well before my issues with health started up, so I'm not sure whether they are related or not. Meditation does sound like a good idea.

Thanks again

I so agree with this--good advice.

I do this, but with my feet. Generally my bare feet--and I imagine the energy going into the ground--the excess. Also there is nothing like walking outside after doing a psychic reading in my barefeet and I walk on the grass and dirt and just go over to where our creek is and sit on our bench to meditate some more to help calm myself and get rid of all the excess energy. However, when it is snowy and bitter cold--this can be an issue--but you can also ground yourself inside the same way, really. I just think being outside and touching the ground or nature (a tree for example) is extremely calming.

so agree with this this. I use to have to drink a glass of milk and eat something like potatoes or bread to help ground me after a reading too--but now a cup of tea or glass of plain water does the trick too. you have to find what is good for you and works, so experiment some more with options. having a salad is also a good option.

I have heard this and can see how it would work. Plus it is great exercise!

Dawn,
My initial reaction to your post is: do you have any metal pins etc. in your body? I'm wondering if your natural energy flow is maybe blocked due to something like that?

You shouldn't be losing energy unless you are giving it away... in my experience there are a few ways to do that - sometimes people around you take it from you leaving you exhausted. Since you are conscientiously trying to keep your energy I don't feel that would be the reason for your your loss of energy.

As for the "electricity" type feeling you have, that sounds like a grounding issue to me too.

My sense was that your own energy flow is somehow not quite right and you should start there. There are good meditations for this, and very easy ones to boot. If you have a pendulum of any kind (even a key on a string or something), I can help you out - either here or in PM.

Brightest Blessings,
Toni
