Hajo Banzhaf

madhavendra

I dont see much of this author here; is it because his books are not translated into English? After two of his books I think this guy is the best. He is taking a lot from Jung's books, but he adds plenty of his own realizations. I love the way he's critical about innovations introduced by Wait :D . Specially he mentions often how Justice and Strenght should stay where they were since centuries:)
If you have access to his books it is must to go trough them. (finally I found some Tarot books written by a man ;) )
Are there people here who read him? I would be interested in discussion and sharing thoughts.

PS. Here I found some stuff in English: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b...tripbooks&field-keywords=hajo+banzhaf&x=0&y=0

His book on Crowley-Harris's Tarot of Thoth is the best I know of on that deck, after The Book of Thoth. It's very detailed and well thought-out.

Thanks for mentioning him.

Hi madhavendra,

I really like Hajo's books. He's one of the top writers on Tarot books in German speaking countries, alongside Lilo Schwarz (Swiss-based, but also great).

I like that whatever he does, might it be Tarot or astrology, has substance. He's fabulous! Besides his books on RWS and Thoth he also initiated the German Tarot forum on tarot.de and the First German Tarot Association "Tarot e.V."

Somehow I was so sure that his books get translated into English but in a quick search on amazon I only found these:
* Tarot and the Journey of the Hero (RWS)
* The Tarot Handbook (RWS)
* Key Words for the Crowley Tarot (Thoth)
* Tarot As Your Companion: A Practical Guide To The Rider-Waite and Crowley Thoth Tarot Decks (RWS and Thoth)
* The Crowley Tarot: The Handbook To The Cards (by Akron and Hajo Banzhaf) (Thoth)
It's sad cause I think he is really good.

Another fan here!

I'm fortunate enough to live in the city where his Tarot/Astrology school is. If you ever get the chance to see him live, grab it! A very charismatic personality and a great teacher.

Tarot for Everyone

I have one of his books (in English) titled Tarot for Everyone. Its very good, it has a unique style of tarot layout that is simple but very effective.

If anyone speaks spanish, the publisher EDAF has a lot of his books. I think most of the Tarot books they have published are written by Hajo. And I think they're not so expensive.

I've read a couple of his books in bookstores and such and they're very good, I'm a fan, unfortunately since they're imported here in Argentina they're very expensive. I hope I can get them for much less in the book fair coming up next April 24th =)

no fan of Hajo Banzhaf

this guy is more or less an imposter.
allmost all he writes is "nicked" from somewhere else, without him quoting the source (most of the time simply Waite or Mathers, resp. Crowley);
when he gives a special interpretation, it is usually a pretty weird one - again he would not state how he came to that conclusion.
It is truly a shame that this guy dominates the German market, it would have deserved something better than this man who started off as a salesman for insurances and "specialised" later in Tarot and Astrology at the same time.
Do not read his books - they are a waste of time and money.
