"Kitchen Witch's Guide to Divination"

NorthernTigress

Has anyone here heard anything about this book? I saw it today at the local used bookstore. It looks a little bit corny (the first chapter is called "You can Scry if you want to"). But there's a chapter on random-object oracles that has me curious.

Product Description
Wouldn't all of us like an occasional peek into the future-to see if that blind date's going to flop or fly, to make the right decision about an important career change, to choose the right school for our children? Unfortunately, today's world is such that the only thing on which we can depend is change. But the good news is that we can learn to awaken and empower our natural divinatory abilities and get a better perspective on life's perplexities. The Kitchen Witch's Guide to Divination shows you how. It explains what divination is, how it works, and how to choose or design divination systems successfully. Once you have a clear understanding of this concept, you'll examine some home-based, handy divination methods that are simple to learn and utilize, whether you're in the kitchen, backyard, office...or even on the road.

Thats the only part of the description which I find difficult to accept. Who knows really how it all works????

Sounds like an interesting book with lots of ideas but its not one that I know personally. Sorry.

I've seen it advertised in a book club I'm a member of too. I wondered what it was like--what all was in this book. I keep meaning to look at B&N to see if they have a copy to look at, but forget each time I go in there. It seems like an interesting book, but I'd like to know more about it first - before purchasing it myself.

The author appears to be quite prolific in the spells, goddess, wicca genres.

ETA: many appear to be re-packaging of previous material.

Not a great fan of Patricia Telesco, though I don't know this particular book.

One book on this subject I would recommend, as it is so thorough, interesting and useful, is Stephen Karcher's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Divination. Among many other insights and ideas, it got me into bird flight divination, which is great!

Another nice one (basic but interesting) is Lon Milo DuQuette's "The Book of Ordinary Oracles."

I'll go and have a look at the one Fudugazi recommended...
