Hello all,

I am traveling to Paris in May and was wondering if anyone may suggest any places where i could shop for tarot decks, specifically TDM. either used or new.

The BEST place for decks in general is Librairie L'Inconnu, on Rue Cherche Midi

Another is Gibert Jeune's new-ish esoteric store, on the Quai near Place St Andre des Arts.

And I'd also check out the Playing Card Museum in Issy.

TdM in Issy-les-Moulinaux

Hello yaraluna,

Gregory summed up all the good libraries. I only want to add this: I've been in the Playing Card Museum in Issy in january, they have nothing interesting for sale in the shop unfortunately. But if you're into TdM you absolutely have to go there to see their véry nice exhibition of TdM's. I think I took like 100 photo's

Shame about the shop... They had good stuff about 6 years ago. Even (not TdM I know) Niki de St Phalle's deck for a VERY good price.

But yes - the museum itself - I was thinking sales - but the collection is JAW-dropping and wonderfully displayed ! I was there for hours. You feel like you are really close up to the cards - it's amazing.

Agreed on all the above, L'Inconnu and Gibert Jeune are both really good. Gibert Jeune has a lot of second hand Tarot books, too. Address for Gibert Jeune Esoterisme is 23 Quai Saint-Michel, btw.

It's a shop for board games and playing cards, not an esoteric one, but they have a lot of tarot decks. Last time I went they even had very rare decks, like the Ambras Hofjagd - they have new and used decks. They opened the decks for me that I wanted to look at which is always very nice.

And it's very close to Centre Pompidou and the Marais etc, not at the end of the world as L'inconnu. At least for me, always on rive droite...

Wow ! I stayed in a chambre de bonne up a zillion stairs and no lift, on Rue de la Verrerie a couple of years ago, and I missed that

But L'inconnu is right near the Raspail market...

ETA That is a NIGHTMARE website They have some really good stuff and you can't actually click on it to see if they REALLY have it !
