New Orleans Voodoo Tarot - XVIII--Magick Mirror [The Moon]

afrosaxon

A large mirror with a set of eyes in the reflection. The background is starry and three hands hold/support the mirror. Waters flow at the base of the mirror. The body of a woman hangs on an upside-down crescent moon (indicative of the astrological sign Cancer?) in the upper right-hand corner. The mirror is trimmed in bands of greenish-aqua and orange/gold.

The mirror shows us ourselves as we see ourselves. Do you like what you see? The hands indicate that other people have a “hand” in how we see ourselves and how others see us. The waters are emotions, which influence how we see ourselves and how the world sees us. Waters change, so our self-image changes.

If the mirror is distorted, what is the real image? It is times like these when you must use your intuition to discern what is real, which is further underscored by the blue/indigo starry sky. The starry sky also indicates hope.

Lots of movement (water=emotions) in this card.
