the man in the card 31 holds a "billet de confession". This card refers to events from 1746-1757 in France (a quarrel about the dogmatic nature of the Unigenitus papal bull).

But the man is called a Hipocrite ..

hy·poc·ri·sy (hĭ-pŏk′rĭ-sē)
n. pl. hy·poc·ri·sies
1. The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
2. An act or instance of such falseness.

That's a behavior, which appears "always", not naturally indicating a specific time.
A battle with specific locations.
As the same war reappeared around 1790, it might be naturally an actual hint of c. 1790 , which pointed to the earlier trouble of c. 1770.
3 heroes which fought against Troja appear at 63-65, which gives a war against the Ottomans in Constantinople a special view (close to old Troja). Curiously France (or the French kings) believed once to have descended from a son of Aeneas (a Trojan hero, not a Greek attacker on Troja). And France had been occasionally allied to the Ottomans.

The map is curious, not easy to explain.

The most important here is that a link exists between Guignard and Etteilla (plus maybe someone I've been tracking for a while : Etteilla's engraver).

Guignard and his family have spent several years of their post-revolution life in Russia. It will leave traces :

Well, this is an interesting development. Do you have translated the Russian texts? Is the deck complete, as it is? Or has the third picture a special function?

Huck

The Russian deck is also at the trionfi.eu site (as well as numerous other places)

I got the same answer from Sascha Sukhorukow, owner of the Museum.

Guignard had been about 15 years ambassador in Constantinople, this explains much about the content ... inclusive the strange map, Soliman and 3 Greek warriors at Troja.

It's a marriage in Grenoble the 15 Messidor an II (3rd of July 1794).

The groom : Joseph Marie de Barral Marquis de Montferrat is Guignard de Saint-Priest's cousin (his father is the brother of Guignard's mother)

The bride : Bibiane (?) Joubert de la Salette is the sister of Pierre-Joseph Joubert de la Salette 1743-1833 general, musicologist, Etteilla's pupil and author of the Dictionnaire synonimique du Livre de Thot, précédé d’un discours préliminaire, par un membre de la Société des interprètes de cet ouvrage 1791

Huck

This sounds interesting ... the bride should have been rather old, likely 2nd marriage. Do you have the genealogical material?
