Scary reading?

Someone did a Celtic Cross spread for me and the 9 of swords came up in the "above" position, the worst card in the deck! Later I went home and did a 7 card spread with the 9 of swords as the Signifier to get some clarification, and the Death card came up first! Does this mean what I think it does?

Probably not Although I'm only guessing what you think it means.

Nine of swords is a card about sleepless nights and worry - and the worry may be unfounded or blown up out of all proportion.

The Death card is about change. It may feel awful to be going through a time of change, but when this has been lived through, better times lie ahead.

There are other much more experienced people who will give you a better idea than me, but I believe that these are the usually accepted basics. You could look at Thirteen's descriptions of these cards in the Tarot Basics section.

But I definitely don't think that there is any need to panic.
