Black Tourmaline crystal

MissBee

This is honestly my favourite of all gemstones. It is like genuine Rose Attar - a VERY little goes a VERY long way and it packs a massive punch.

It corresponds to the base chakra and I personally find it to have a very "feminine" energy (although I could just have a very girly-girl gem....I do believe gemstones have distinct, individual personalities).

Properties I have noticed:

- Grounding. This gem grounds you right to the very core of the Earth.
- Protective. The most protective gem I have ever used. It is like having a massive shield around you.
- Calms anxiety and fears.
- Can help with insomnia, particularly if your insomnia is anxiety related.
- I love meditating with this gem. Puts you into a deep hypnotic state very quickly.

black tourmaline is very much one of my favorites! In fact, I refused to begin my crystal studies until I could locate some to begin my "collection" and I am so glad I did! It took awhile, but I found an amazing source and managed to get four large pieces for less than the price of one anywhere else I had seen it. I keep one in my bedroom, one in my traveling crystal bag, and two in my crystal box.

This crystal was really important to me because I have someone who definitely sends "negative vibes" my way on a regular basis. This person in the past has made me physically ill sending so much crap my way so I wanted something to protect me from her psychic attacks as well as deflect the energy away from me (and my house/family). Ever since I obtained the black tourmaline, I have had absolutely no problems with this person (it was like she disappeared!) and the few times she has tried to 'stir up' trouble through other people it has come back to her and I have been untouched. I definitely believe this stone is an excellent protector and that it does send the energy back to the sender.

I would love to obtain some green tourmaline and maybe some watermelon, but so far I have been unsuccessful :(

I have recently learned something truly and awesomely useful about Black Tourmaline - my husband was suffering terrible joint pain in the hips and ankles from an aggressive physical training program - I taped a stubby wand of it on both left and right thigh area and he slept with them on - in the morning his hip pain was all gone! He is totally sold on it now :) yay for healing with crystals! (It also made the pain in his ankles go away).

And, he has a more cynical mind than me - he doesn't just automatically believe, and so it was wonderful that it worked on him, regardless of his outlook - though I must say he is quite won over now, lol!

ok, so more info on black tourmaline: my male Shepherd is severly frightened by thunderstorms...last night there was a big one, and I stroked his head with it, in the spot where his third eye would be located. I also held it to his heart. Although he was still obviously afraid, he did calm down, and he stopped trembling :) so it seems to have helped him "ground" himself, maybe therefore removing some of the electrical charge of the storm.

I also used it last night on myself, taping it to my lower back, where I was suffering pain from too much activity. The pain went away almost immediately - I could almost "see" it breaking into harmless little shards, and dissipating in the vicinty, just becoming pure energy and no longer being pain! it was great!

One thing I have found, however, is if you wear too much tourmaline - I was wearing the dark green/blue tourmaline ring, a string of red, pink, yellow, green and black beads, and had the black tourmy wand in my pocket - you will begin to feel nauseous :p at least, that was the effect on me, after two days wearing it! When I removed it, the feeling went away. Too much of a good thing! lol! :D

ETA: More rain and thunder today, so I did the stroking with the black tourmaline wand on the dog again - he did stop trembling again, and I attached the wand to his collar in a crystal cage. He is normally stuck to my leg and panting during storms, but this time he just went and lay down in the basement. I may be on to something! lol...it definitely calmed him down.

I love this application! I am so happy to hear someone is utilizing their crystal knowledge to help our four-legged furry kids. I also love that you made him his very own crystal cage to carry it around with him on his collar! You go, Lotus! Interesting point about reducing the electrical charge...

The past couple of days I have been leaving a huge chunk of black tourmaline on my sick computer. Don't know if it will be able to "heal" it, but it definitely seems to be helping to keep it going. I think it too has been 'overloading' the circuits, so maybe you are on to something there with the electrical issues.

hmmm...I may have to try this!! I have tried a lot of crystals on my back, some have helped, but none have completely taken away the pain or underlying issue. Do you think this was soft tissue related? My issue seems to be a combination of muscle damage and sciatic nerve damage so I am not sure if will have the same effect. I am definitely willing to give it a try though! Can't believe I haven't ever tried it before since I always have tons of tourmaline around me.

Speaking of having tons of it around...I was surprised that you had this reaction, but then again, as we have seen time and again, we each have very individualized reactions and "tolerances" to different stones. I always (literally on a daily basis) have black tourmaline with me and surrounding me. I have also been wearing the tree of life tourmaline earrings I made pretty much daily, so all in all on a daily basis I have three good sized pieces of tourmaline on my person and also two pieces in the rooms I stay in the most within the house. I have never noticed them causing me a headache or nausea.

I have noticed, however, that if I get too many stones (of various kinds) together in my bedroom they can cause headaches and a high pitched hum in my ears and the bedroom is the only place this seems to happen. Also, I finally was able to obtain a nice piece of pink tourmaline (still no green or watermelon) and although I haven't specifically worked with it yet, it definitely has a completely different feel (and I'm assuming different purpose) than the black.

Well, it was one of many theories that passed through my head at the time, as to why it worked. It also made me think, "black, root chakra, electricity running down it, harmlessly going into the earth - like lightening rod". Could have just been the Lithium content, as well...Interestingly enough, when I took it off his collar after the storm had passed, my poor wand was so dull and seemed to have shrunk massively! It "looked" smaller, for sure. He really drained it. I washed it and it is happily humming away on an amethyst charger rock in the garden, in the sun and under the plants and rooted to the rich earth :) It looks like itself again! lol!

Interesting - and also why I love these crystal studies :) all this rich experimentation is helping us learn so much! And all from different viewpoints - excellent! Good luck with 'puter :) I miss you when you aren't here! lol!

I am not sure - my issues stem from both sciatic nerve damage, as well as having broken a disc ;p but it did work! In re to husband's hip pain, his problem is also bone related...but he did use it successfully to help ease muscle pain...I would be very interested in knowing if this worked for you.

Yup ;) different strokes! lol...if you wore the tons of garnets at once that I sometimes do, it might give you a massive bellyache! lol! However, I can wear my green tourmaline, on its own or with other non-tourm stones, for days and feel no discomfort whatsoever :)

Very interesting, this - WildC, do you think it may have to do with the fact that you are perhaps more relaxed in the bedroom, and therefore more aware of the "singing"?

Regarding green/watermelon tourmaline, I will see what the crystal shop here has - it is a very good vibration place, and they are having a sale next weekend :) I will look for some for you.

ETA: the pink tourmaline definitely has a different usage, I will look it up and PM you... :)

Thanks so much for sharing this, Lotus! I am amazed at how well and quickly this remedy worked for both of you. I have been struggling to recover a semblance of "normal" life since December!!! At times it has completely debilitated me and most of the time is just a constant pain of varying degrees. The worse part is, I don't even know what "it" is. (I have an existing lower back injury from years ago that was not bothering me when I somehow simultaneously put my hip out of place and tore a muscle I think a week before Christmas) However, there has been a few short periods (a few days) where the pain was completely gone and it was like I was "healed" only to have it come back with a vengeance.

I have done as you suggested the past two nights...using medical tape to sleep with a piece of black tourmaline taped to the affected area. A few times I have felt some "interesting" sensations in my spine and have experienced what I believe is a healing shift in the area. The pain is not completely gone, but it does seem to have lessened and I am considering placing the tourm in a different location on my body tonight to see if this does anything, or if I have it in the right spot and am just needing to be more patient.

I don't really think so. I would actually say I am more relaxed in my healing/meditation room. I think the issue in the bedroom is there are many electrical devices (computers, television, mini fridge, etc) and that at some point the room meets "critical mass". It could also have something to do with lay lines and being less than a mile from the Pacific tide. Those are the only reason I can think of why the bedroom would create this high voltage noise.

I recently decided to carry black tourmeline for three days straight - MISTAKE!!!! Black tourmeline is great to work with for short periods of time, but any extended amount of time will severely drain you.

On the first day I was fine for about 6 hours, and then I started to droop. I was in bed by 7pm and had the blackest sleep (like being under anaesthesia). The next day was worse, I was fatigued, weak and couldn't think as clearly as normal. Third day I could barely function, I was so drained. It was on the third evening I realised it was the black tourmeline and took it off. I had returned to nearly normal in roughly an hour.

So in my humble opinion, black tourmeline is immensely powerful and is best used for short periods of time, especially when worn on the body.

Thanks for sharing your experience MissBee : ) I recently got some black tourmaline but haven't worked with it yet. I need to reread the properties but I got it for protection on an as needed basis.
