Tarot of the Holy Light

So why sell software to download to PCs that cannot normally run it? Presumably people then transfer the application to some other device - an iPhone or iPad?

Patrick

Where does it say that it's software to download to PCs?

Patrick Booker

It's my own fault for not reading the specification properly - it only runs on iPad and similar devices. But you can download to PCs, and the site checks you have iTunes installed before allowing you to purchase. I am guessing people do download these programs and then transfer to portable devices.

Thanks for the information, fyreflye and to Patrick Booker for being the guinea pig for PC-users.

Unfortunately, I use Android-based devices and this app will not benefit me. Fortunately, I at least have the deck itself...but I really would have liked having a portable electronic version. And any text or background info on the cards that may be included with the app.

But you don't have any portable devices, so why download it? And why would anyone download it to a PC first when they can and should download it directly to their portable device?

At least part of the fault belongs to the vendor. I didn't search the site thoroughly but nowhere I looked did I see any download instructions. No one should download anything to their computer without reading "System Preferences", which should specify what the downloader needs to have available for the app to work. There probably was a "System Preferences" for this app on iTunes, but I don't know that since I didn't look. However, the assumption should be that an app whose title specifies that it's for iPad (and doesn't say "and similar devices") should be downloaded to iPad only.

As I have admitted, I made a mistake, fyrefly. Some of us make mistakes sometimes.

Can we please return to discussing the Tarot of the Holy Light deck?

GoldenWolf

If it is available in the App store on your Mac then it will work but if not it wont. This seems to apply to all apps. I have been unable to locate it in the App store on my Mac but hav it on my iPhone so I am guessing it's not available for the Macs. I wanted the *BIG* pictures :)

Winterchild, you can still zoom in on the details of the Holy Light cards even on the iPhone so that's helpful. I do admit to having iPad envy though.

Does this deck really follow the Etteilla meanings for the minors? Some posts in this thread seem to be saying that it follows the same structure of meanings as Etteillla although not the same imagery (imagery applies more for the majors) but other posts say that you can use the Rider Waite meanings. I know some cards are pretty much the same but some are very different.

Could someone please post and tell me what meaning the Tarot of Holy Light gives for the Nine of Swords and Four of Coins? Thanks!

I also don't see how it could be following the same "grid" or structure of meanings as Etteilla when the order of the majors is so different and it doesn't put the days of creation at the beginning of the deck.

Eagerly waiting for the companion book! Hopefully the book is going to answer all our questions. :)
