I may have to investigate this deck further because the Greenwood is a deck I use a lot now, and The Drogi is a deck I consider to be a very TdM type deck. But just to be clear, I didn't say I think this is more Oracle, it was a question for those if you who are reading with it.
Hey little Prairie Faerie, nice to see you too! Though I'm not buying decks these days I do like this one and when you mentioned it being a maverick, I get that. I'm very curious about this deck but not quite enough to get my pennies out yet.
Understanding the Greenwod so that it's not a maverick anymore only hit me about 4 months ago. I would love to think the Wild Unknown had that same system, I'll do a bit more research first.
Hi Moonbow,
I was messing around with my deck yesterday and I was trying to think why it reminds me of TdMs, apart from the sparseness of the images (I know that you use mainly TdMs)...
I think one of the main reasons is that there are only a few symbols in the deck and they are repeated on different cards... Not exactly the same image, but a similar looking symbol - a lemniscate, a crescent moon, a sword etc...
When I read with a TdM I take note of the symbol and often see it again on the next card or I see it transformed into something else - The Pope's staff will become a sword or a baton for example. This happens in the Wild Unknown too.
A few days ago I did a reading and got the Ace of Swords followed by the Daughter of Wands.. Both cards had a central upright symbol (a sword then a wand) and both images also contained a figure of 8 snake wrapped around that central symbol - a tight lemniscate on the Ace and a loose, flowing snake that didn't quite meet with it's tail on the Daughter. This all made very good sense in the reading and I read it in a very similar way to how I read TdMs...
I hope that made sense but if you like TdMs, I really think that you would enjoy this deck.. I'm loving it.. Because I relate so well to the artwork and it's a little bit more pictoral than just pips, it seems a little less cryptic than a Tarot de Marseilles, which sometimes takes me a while to work out... With this the message seems more instant..
Edited to add: I don't have The GreenWood but I don't think The Wild Unknown uses the same system... It's it's use of animals and nature symbolism that made me think of The Greenwood. The Wild Unknown has that Shamanic feel that I think the Greenwood has too..
