Energy Loss

Tarotfortune

hi,

Lately, I have been feeling drained after my tarot readings. I feel that my client's are reducing my positive energy and give me their negative energy. Has anyone experienced this? Any tips on how to avoid or get the energy back?

Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to practice grounding and protection before and after all readings. Also, perhaps you can get some crystals that will help protect you from absorbing any energies belonging to another and that will also help you to retain positive and healthy energy. It may also help you to do a chakra cleansing/meditation. These are just some thoughts that may help you.

this really started to happen to me when I used more intuition in my readings. I still get quite tired but at the start of this, I was left exhausted out! like needed to have a rest. I find it's worse for doing readings for other people, I put more into it in some way.

As well as CN's ideas and crystals, I recommend having breaks and a rest. Learning more grounding techniques and eating and drinking when you feel tired! I always have a glass of water with me when divining, I seem to drink a lot and keeping hydrated has really helped for me!

Limit your readings, I only do one reading for someone else or myself in a 24 hour period, take breaks from tarot. This seems to happen to a lot of people, especially as you start to get more and more connected to tarot and energy sources :)

I think it will be better for you as you continue to read for others. The tense feeling of wanting to be "right" about the reading is quite acute and quite tiring. Once you're used to reading, then you can relax and that will help your quality of reading, too.

Yes, this has happened to me during phone readings which is one of the main reasons I stopped reading over the phone. After the third call I would be exhausted. It never happens to me when I read online...always full of energy!

Energy vampires. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychic_vampire) I agree, you do need more grounding and protection before you "expose" yourself to prospective clients.

I've been talking about these vampires (I called them "psychic vampires" as well but "energy" is more properly inclusive) since the 1980s. I see that the idea presently has credibility among psychologists. I began using various protective techniques of the type CN mentioned several years before that time. I guess I'm am outlier in that in my own practice I alway feel envigorated by reading, not drained. Even when the going is toughest I find energizing inspiration in the cards and the process, usually when I'm reaching hardest for meaning. I suppose its a kind of "high" (maybe a form of intuitive "hyperventilation?" :))

My husband and I refer to them as psychic vampires too. We also encounter them in daily life--(we happen to know a lot of psychic vampires personally, unfortunately), and just have to limit our time around them as a result.

And, it is important to have a snack in between any readings. I drink a lot of water through out the day, but I find if I am reading in my own home, a glass of milk helps me more sometimes. However, that's not always feasible if reading in other places other then your home. So, water is the best bet outside of your home. I think you may need to experiment with different things to see what works best for you. I believe milk grounds me due to being of the earth. (comes from cows that eat grass, you know?) So, you just have to experiment with things to see what works best for you and do that. Having some other 'snacks' nearby for you to nibble on between readings can help too. Some ideas there are nuts or a sandwich, fruit, etc.

Yup, I know this feeling well. When people seek out tarot readings, their energy can be all over the place and can stick to us. I was reading all day once a week, so, I had to do a variety of things. See if anything here works for you.

* Ground myself and ask for protection before I even walked into my reading room. Call on your angels, spirit guides, guardians, etc.
* Since I'm a reiki master, I'll reiki the mess out of my reading room
* had crystals on my table to keep negative energy off of me (black tourmaline is excellent for this). I also usually wore a black tourmaline pendant
*kept a quartz crystal on top of all of my reading decks to cleanse them in between readings
* sage my reading room especially after heavy readings
* walk outside and stand in the sun for a few minutes to recharge and burn any negativity off of me. This worked really well.

When I was teaching Reiki, I figured out that food was a quick and easy way to ground out sometimes. Try eating some nuts, cheese (if you're not a vegan), or bread between clients. This also worked for me when I was doing professional phone readings.
