Ever have a deck....

Have you ever had a deck that you just did not get along with? A long time ago I bought the tarot of the saints. The introductory reading did not go well, even though I initially liked the imagery of the cards, the few readings I actually used the deck for seemed very off. It's weird to say but I almost felt at odds with the deck. I just pulled it out after many years of it sitting in my hat box, sat in meditation while holding the deck, and did a re-introductory reading. Same result! I don't know what it is about this deck! Anyone experience something similar with a deck?

For sure…the Robin Wood deck for me. It is gorgeous, and a fabulous, easty-to-read deck--without objection! But something about the beautiful athletic people with smooth skin and prominent jawlines--everyone beaming, and the big 70s hair--I felt like I couldn't relate. Guess I'm just jealous that I don't look as good as anyone in that deck, lol.

Any and every one of Liz Dean's decks. They never got along with me and I never got along with them. I didn't like the art but they were given to me as a gift and I tried so hard to work with them, but it never worked out.

The Deviant Moon. So many people were wild about it that I had to try it. I did, and nothing. I put it away for awhile. Tried again. Still nothing. Passed it on.

I have to agree with you on The Deviant Moon. I seen it online and am not at all compelled to try it!

So far, I haven't encountered a deck I couldn't connect to after a fair amount of readings, research, and study. If a deck is interesting, beautiful, and deep, it may take years to really open up, but it's a profound and highly rewarding experience. A different matter altogether is that there are many decks out there that I just don't care even to try to connect to.

Agree with both of you on the Deviant Moon aswell.

I was gifted the Deviant Moon by my daughters friend in return for making him a Mala prayer bead from rudraksha beads, he thought it was a deck that would suit me, but I've tried using it a few times and I get nothing from it, so it has been placed in wooden carved box and rarely sees the light of day, maybe one day i'll give it another try and see if we can get on better.

I also bought the alchemy tarot years ago and couldn't get on with that deck either, ended up giving it to my daughter.

I think that the nature of the Deviant Moon makes it a little difficult to speak to everyone. But I do adore the deck and have gotten great readings from it. We connected right away.

I found another deck that I don't connect to in the slightest, and that's the Native American Tarot. No matter how hard I try or the readings I try with it, it just refuses to work with me and it doesn't speak to me at all. I'm probably going to pass it on.

Absolutely. The OOP and expensive Touchstone. BEAUTIFUL images, sturdy cardstock but it simply won't speak... I don't think there's a particular reason why decks are silent. It's almost like they don't click with you like a person, you know ? Have you ever met a gorgeous looking man, tried to have a conversation and it fell flat ? To me, it feels like that.

You know, I had looked for a Native American themed deck, and passed on the Native American Tarot. I really wanted to like it but couldn't. I finally found The Star That Never Walks Around deck, and it's one of my favorites. I love the images and the round shape of the cards.
