Hello,
a nice function. :-)
I think it might be of some interest to know which tarot decks are used.

i like the hanson roberts, universal tarot, matt myers art noveau, nigel jackson, and zerner-farber best for my everyday garden variety readings. of course, i have favorites that i don't use for everyday readings. for example, the vertigo, celtic wisdom, rohrig, and legend arthurian.

My favourite decks to use are Cosmic Tribe, Osho Zen and lately, the World Spirit.
I tried to get into Thoth but need to dedicate a little more time to getting to know it before actually using it.
I don't have the Rider Waite but study it in books. IMO there are so many other, more interesting decks available!

I use the Aquarian too!
But I also have the Gill (for meditation/myself) and Visconti-Gold (for myself, sometimes).
The Tarocchi Celtici I look at and contempleate, but never really used at all! I don't want to ruin it! :)

Readings: I primarily use the Cosmic Tribe, Robin Wood, Tarot of the Old Path, and Osho Zen
Study Groups: Universal Waite, Cosmic Tribe, Templar, Faery Oracle (new group starting up); and need to add Thoth to this list ... I hope to one day understand this deck well.
Meditation: Same as reading decks and study group decks ... depends on what I am up to with this.
I collect decks so I end up messing around with all sorts of decks. Sometimes some of them just call to me. My goal is to study each in depth ... the Cosmic Tribe is the one that I am delving into at the moment. So many decks, so little time ~sighs~

Am currently using The Chinese Tarot. Other decks I use personally are Ryder (Smith)-Waite, Robin Wood, Ancient Egyptian, Cosmic Tribe, Vertigo.
When reading for others I use any of the ones listed & other decks but not Vertigo, which I am getting to know.

For readings I use Robin Woods and Osho Zen. I generally let the other person choose between them.
I also like the Shapeshifter Deck for myself, and especially for ideas like interacting lives.
I have the Thoth, the RW and Faery Wicca, but haven't spent enough time with the first and last, and too much with the middle one.

I am using the Tarot of the Old Path at present - it really talks .
I have had the Morgan Greer - when I was learning and The Enchanted Tarot, both of which I have given away.
Also have The Tarot of the Cat People which despite my love of cats I've never really connected with and the Voyager.
Just received the Faeries Oracle as a birthday present and joining the study group here - should be fun.
Next on my list is the Osho Zen

Anyway; to complete my vote & my rating: I'm using the same deck as the majority namely "other" :)
My deck is the "Mage the Ascention" deck which I got by accident (or luck or..). I did buy myself a Rider Waite deck recently but due to the good and satisfying results I'm not planning to give up on my mage deck.

I use many of the other decks listed in the posts, especially Robin Wood and Osho, and have some decks I never use in readings. I also mix decks, if a question comes up in a reading I will use another deck (not all are tarot) to clarify. For example relationships: the Joy of Relationship cards, childhood or the ability to play: Inner Child Cards, dreams: the Dreampower Tarot, personal power: the Power Deck or also Medicine Cards, divine message: Crystal Ally cards, transition: Shapeshifter - well you get the idea. Two other decks I use with other decks are the Psy cards and Words of Truth oracle. Anyone else mix and match?

I started off with the Celtic Dragon and it has worked really well for me. But it wasn't my deck. Then I got the Sacred Circle a few weeks ago. I have some strange favorites, too. I like mixing it up for the seasons. Right now:
Winter: Victoria Regina Deck (I just got it a month ago, but I studied Victorian Folklore so I can really relate)
Spring: The "Storybook" Tarots: Wonderland, Oz, Whimsicle
Summer: Medicine Cards (Actually any Animal Related Deck)
Fall: The Halloween Deck (My all time Favorite) or Russian Gypsy.
Of course I've got a bunch of other ones that are favorites just for the art, or my friends favorites when I try to read for them.

Motherpeace is my main deck. Other decks I own, and have just started to work/play with, include Songs for the Journey Home (awesome), Celtic Wisdom, Sacred Circle, and Universal Waite (finally decided to get a "traditional" deck ;) for study). As you can see, I tend to favor mythically-oriented decks that inspire imagination and spiritual questing. Colorful artwork is also a plus.

The first deck I bought was the Renaissance Tarot by Brian (?) Williams...it almost seems eager to be read by me but then it'll almost seem to mock me when I use it; sort of hard to explain. The second deck I bought was the Haindl Tarot, whose images have spoken to me ever since I was a kid and knew nothing about the Tarot. That one's been my primary deck and we seem to have a good relationship with each other. I then bought the Legend: Arthurian Tarot deck but though I love the artwork, it gives me this "don't read me" vibe (so if anyone wants it, it's in great shape - but doesn't have the book).
Last night I caved and bought The Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg; I think that might end up being my primary deck for a while. Did a reading with it last night and it was brutally honest with me - almost too honest, if that makes sense? I actually felt like crying afterwards, but spurred me to think about changing some things so that's good :)

Diana: sure.
I don't have the notes for the spread with me, but I tried a simple 3-card spread for myself regarding the direction my life is going. the card for the romantic aspect of my life was the queen of cups reversed, and though I don't remember off hand what the middle card (career) was, I remember the interpretation of the card being "false friends, unreliability, deception", and the third card (family/personal life) being the two of swords reversed. I then inquired about what steps I need to take to bring joy and positive energy into my life and drew three more cards: the Heirophant, the nine of coins reversed, and the empress.
This was the point where I got emotional. Lately my life has been in a great deal of turmoil; I've had some major strife with my stepfather, I've had some job uncertainties, a relationship ended, someone very close to me died - and my response to all of these things has been basically to 1) rebel against all my parents hold dear (I've already rebelled quite a bit against certain things from my childhood - but this recent rebellion has been purely out of vengeance); I've been careless with finances; and I've kind of shut myself off emotionally from people around me, which is very against my nature because I naturally exhibit the qualities of the empress - particularly the nurturing aspect.
I guess it just really hit close to home and kind of forced me to admit that I've begun going down an unhealthy path. I remember reading in the review someone did of the Russian deck that the images jump out at you and can even overwhelm a person; I think this happened with me - I felt like nothing was sugar-coated, like something was forcing me to see something I needed to look at, but had been avoiding. I've not had this experience with the other decks I've used.
Does that make sense?

Right now the deck I use most often is the Neoclassical Tarot of Lombardy. I also have the Paris Tarot --- not the new painted one, the reproduction of the seventeenth century one --- that is probably my all time favourite deck. It's out of print now, so this one only comes out on special occasions.
I also use the Fournier Marseille, the (Japanese) Angel Tarot, and the Swiss 1JJ --- my first deck ever. Got it at a Spencer Gifts back in '75 or so.
I own a Rider-Waite-Smith, but I don't read with it anymore; I dislike being locked into the images, even if I've seen them so often they're always at the back of my mind. I also own a Crowley Thoth, which I haven't done much with.

Ah... boring ol' me... ;)
I have been using the Rider-Waite deck for some time. It is the only deck I've been successful with so far (though I just got a new deck - the Rohrig Tarot - will post more about that in a bit). I had no connection with my first deck (Tarot of Marseilles). I also now have my mother's old Albano-Waite deck which, in spite of misgivings I'd mentioned in another post, seems to be working out for me very well.

it is very well done, it reads easily (for me) and is just fabulous, special, sparkling, funky, ...also the lwb is very good, very well written!!! i have it a few months now and just love it, it's my favourite!!!
the deck is build on the theory that life is one big theater, with yourself as an actor on the scene... every card shows a picture that has a little story behind it wich explains the meaning of the card, a scene on the theater, a scene of your life at this moment...if you want i always want to pm you a few explanations for cards that you especially like in tarot...so you can judge yourself, or if you see a nice looking card in the internetsites here below you want to know the meaning: just say!!!
a few good sites to view the cards+reviews (didn't find the full deck though):
http://www.wicce.com/phantasmagoric.html
http://www.astroamerica.com/t-phant.html
http://www.learntarot.com/phdesc.htm
http://www.tarotpassages.com/phantas.htm
http://www.tarotpassages.com/phantasmagoricgav.htm
hope this is enough...
if there is something special about it you want to know, just ask ;)
and i think there are a few threads here about it, but not much...if you would like to search them...

Let me start by saying that I viewed the poll from a different direction than everyone else seemed to. I took it to referr to types of decks with other standing for all those decks that come close to traditional tarot but don't quite fit the 3 big types. So take 1 off of RW and add it to other...
The first four decks to call to me were.
Witch's
Medicine Woman
Mage the Ascenstion
Mythic
I've since started a study and collecting trend so can't say where I am right now. That would be just naming off my collection.
On another note I do change decks based off the type of question or sometimes what feels like it has something to say about this subject today. Sometimes that just means it has something to say wheather or not it is about the intended question. I do follow up with different decks too. I'm considering pulling from 2 decks at once.... Hmmm..... new thread?

Juice I loved your reply on using different decks and pulling from different ones. I think that is way tight! As my kids would say lol! My poll fell into other decks but I do own the main one such as Raiter and Toth. Maybe we should start a thread on pulling from different decks. Sometimes I just like to grab my different boxes of decks and pull from inside just see what card comes up. Its always right on! Take care.

I am not doing much reading with cards right now, because I feel that I have to learn the cards a bit better and also because I have found the power of the Tarot to be greater than I am prepared to handle at this time, (I take the blue pill). However, I have felt most connection with my Hanson-Roberts deck. I am looking forward to the arrival of my Universal Waite, because I really do like the images of the traditional RWS, but not the hard edges and colors.
I also really love the majors in my Balbi deck. I am not sure about the minors, as they are pips and I am don't understand some of the imagery there.

The decks I use are
The Universal Waite - for readings for other people
The Ancestral Path - for past life readings and past/present/future
Voyager - for drawing a card and sometimes past/present/future
The Sacred Circle - I am now using for Shadow Tarot work
Shapeshifter - for drawing a card each day
Renaissance - I am not keen on this deck but sometime use it for backup if I draw from 3 decks at once to clarify something - the book that comes with it is very good
I have a Angel Love Cards which were made in NZ and I use them as drawing just one card
I have ordered the Faerie Oracle Cards and I am just placing an order for The Witches Tarot and the Druid Animal Oracle Cards

Hi
For personal readings I prefer the Osho Zen. I have previously had good results with Crowley Thoth and the Greenwood.
RW and its derivatives have never worked well for me - and I seriously do not like those decks.
For study I am currently using the Marseille (Jodorowsky) but sometimes use the related Balbi since the artwork and colors are far more interesting.

I think that this poll was a bit limited. I use about 12 decks on a daily basis. (Tarot of Prague, Cary-Visconti, Tarot de Marseilles, Tarot of Casanova, The Black Tarot, Bosch Tarot, The Gothic Tarot (Vargo), Napo Tarot, Tzigane Tarot, The Rohrig Tarot, The Golden Tarot, The Gilded Tarot) Some may change but others always reamain like Tarot de Marseilles.--Tao

I voted Crowley-Thoth, since it's always on my favorites list, and has been since 1988 or so. But The Crystal Tarot, which I just purchased this past year, is likely to stay on my favorites list as well. My other current favorite is Morgan-Greer.

The Tarot de Paris (J. Philip Thomas) is by far my most favorite deck to use.
I also use the FEY Tarot (LS) and Tarot ART NOUVEAU (LS), both of which are beautiful.
And I'm sure the GILDED Tarot will be near the top of my list when I receive it!!

I use at this time, the following:
Soul Cards2 for beginning and/or ending readings for others. I keep the Soul Cards handy and if I think I'm stuck or need a booster, I pull a Soul Card.
The tarots I use now for reading for others:
Osho Zen
World Spirit(also new, and learning this one too)
Wheel of Change(new) just learning this one, but really like it.
And of course, my stand-bys, my old true friends, The Whimsical and the Robin Wood.
I also am playing with a Marseilles, the Hadar, and I find it a very interesting "toy". I just sit and look at the cards and record what comes up. But I find I do have to be doing a reading or some purpose for using them. And hot dog! I have to say a lot comes up! So, I think I might be able to use this deck some day as a reading deck (what am I saying?) but not quite yet....

Hmm, I wonder if I voted wrong. Are we talking Rider Waite *style* or actual Rider Waite?

I'm reading only for myself, and use the Thoth and a version of the RWS that has a little more subdued colors than the classic yellow-boxed US Games edition. It is published by Koenigsfurt in Germany, I have no idea if a similar edition is available internationally.
While I want to learn the Thoth more in depth and really like it, I still know RWS better, so I selected that in the poll.

I've been using my morgan greer deck the most this last few months, I love it! Its got a retro 70's chic vibe that totally appeals to me :D
Most of my decks are rider waite-ish, and they are the ones I am most confident about reading, so thats what I voted for.

Just looked back to see what I posted two years ago ... I didn't even answer the question properly!!!!
I mentioned the Russian Tarot of St Petersburg and that I was interested in the Phantasmagoric. I still have both, but these days, it is the Soprafino, Rohrig and Grimaud.

I have attempted to use all of my decks; however, I think the most-used is still the Sacred Circle. I have used my historical decks recently; I am using the Gilded, & have yet to use my SoF's.

There's no one deck. Rather, I use a number of decks with varying frequency:
My main four decks:
The Gilded Tarot
The Tarot of Prague
The Golden Tarot
The Butler Tarot
These are the decks I instinctively turn to on a daily basis
My other favourites:
Tarot de Marseilles (Grimaud)
Tarot of the Witches
Visconti Gold
Swiss 1JJ
Rider Waite/ Original Rider Waite
Light and Shadow Tarot
Cosmic Tribe
If I'm not using one of my main four, I'll turn to one of these as a next choice.
Yet more favourites:
Sharman Caselli Tarot
Zerner Farber/ Enchanted Tarot
Nigel Jackson Tarot
Quest Tarot
Radiant Rider Waite
Tarot of the New Vision
Russian Tarot of St Petersburg
Morgan Greer
These may not be used on a regular basis but I'd be really hard pushed to do without them. When I need a real change, I pick one of these and it's like a breath of fresh air - I may even find myself sticking with one of these decks for a week or so before it gets retired again.
As you can see, I thrive on variety!
This isn't a complete list of all the decks I use, but it does give a realistic idea of my basic regular reading patterns.

Forgot to mention the Tarot of Transformation (which Cerulean Mari kindly gifted me with :) -- thanks again, Mari ). I don't use it as often, mainly because I like to spend a lot of time with it when I do; but when I need personal insight, it offers a depth unparalleled by any other deck I've used. It's wonderful for intuitive readings. It holds a special place in my collection.

These are the decks I use:
Sacred Circle Tarot
Tarot of Transformation
Quest Tarot
Robin Wood Tarot
Ancestral Path Tarot
Legend: Arthurian Tarot
I don't really have one that I use more often than the others. I go through phases of focusing on one particular deck, but so far none of them have permanently become my main reading deck.
The Sacred Circle holds a special place in my heart, since it was the deck I learned with. I don't use it very much anymore, but every so often I get an urge to pull it out, especially if I'm going to do a reading that feels especially significant.
While I love the Tarot of Transformation's artwork, I haven't read with it very much, because I didn't like its non-traditional structure. Now, though, I've picked it up again and am beginning to appreciate its departure from traditional tarot.
My Quest deck is very high-energy, and I find that if my energy is low it's very hard to get a coherent reading out of this deck. It's also temperamental. Sometimes it works amazingly well, and sometimes getting answers out of it feels like pulling teeth. I think I need to spend a bit more time with it.
I love my Robin Wood deck. I use it a lot for more practically-oriented readings, but it's good for any type of reading. I find it the easiest of my decks to inerpret.
The Ancestral Path Tarot has the most wonderful Major Arcana of any deck I've seen so far. I love them. They're beautiful. The Minors just don't thrill me, though. So I'm awaiting that moment of connection, like what I'm getting now with the Tarot of Transformation, and until then I'm using it mostly for Majors-only spreads. But it's also really great for spiritually-focused readings, using both Majors and Minors.
I haven't spent that much time using the Legend deck, so I'm not sure yet what its particular strengths are, but it's a beautiful deck, and so far has given me insightful readings.
I haven't gotten around to getting a Rider-Waite deck yet. It just doesn't aesthetically appeal to me. I'm considering getting the Radiant Rider-Waite deck, though, because it's more attractive than most of the Rider-Waite clones. The Marseilles I've stayed away from for the same reason, but just as I plan to get a Rider-Waite deck eventually, I also plan to get a Marseilles deck someday.
I do, in fact, own a Thoth deck, but I've never really been able to connect to it. But I assume that one day I'll feel an urge to pull it out and I'll finally come to appreciate and understand that deck. That day hasn't come yet, though.

I voted in this poll years ago but never posted.
My main reading decks are now:
Tarot of Prague
Ancestral Path
Timeless Truth
Animal Wise
When I can do with a smile:
Ferret
Halloween
Studying: Tarot of the Spirit
All my other decks are used for study or meditation or whatever I want to use them for. Sometimes I get the use to try a reading with them as well, but they are not regulars. It can be refreshing to use a totally different deck sometimes.

Hello, I'm new to the forum, so hello all.
The decks I use are the Universal Waite, the Goddess Tarot (gentle, creative deck), The World Spirit ( a little darker), and lately, the Morgan Greer, which I have fallen in love with. I also have the Hanson-Roberts, which is a sweet deck and small, so easy to carry around, and the Robin Wood. Also, I recently got the Inner Child deck, and it's fun to use, especially if you relate to fairy tales. This deck definitely has a sense of humor.
What do you do with those decks you've bought, and just don't relate to at all? I have the Renaissance Tarot, and the Wheel of Change, and Fairy Wicca. None of them do a thing for me.

I use different decks on a daily basis.
But when pressed for an answer ( and depending on the nature of this question ) I stick with just one of the following decks:
- The Medieval Scapini
- Morgan Greer
- Tarot of the Master
- Londa
- Pagan &
- Vision Quest

Why not trade them on the trading forum? Then for the price of the postage, you can see some more decks and see if you bond with them.
And if not - well, the postage is expensive but it's cheaper than a new deck, and you can keep trading till you find something you like.

I voted Rider Waite Smith. I always use this type deck. Either the Robin Wood, Tarot of Prague or the Universal Rider Waite deck.
I own the Marseille and Thoth decks but don't normally use them for reading for others.

I voted already, but didn't clarify which decks I use.
I started out with the African (RWS style) which was the perfect 'starter' deck for me. I feel I have somehow outgrown that one now though, & have moved on to using the Sakki-Sakki (also RWS style) as my favourite.
I also have the NatureSpeaks, which is lovely (although not a traditonal tarot, so I'm not sure if it really counts as 'What tarot deck do you use'), but I will probably only use it for certain types of readings.
