Hello Everyone,
I am a tarotholic, but I have been a bit sad because I haven't seen any decks that I have wanted in months and months - until today - I love the Nigel Jackson, I haven't seen it before today, looked at one of the links on the forum and saw it.
I have read the review and aeclectic have given it 4 stars. Who else has the deck and uses it? Would love to hear from you.
Just so you know my tastes in decks: my favourite is thoth and next is universal waite, then medieval scapini. Do you think Nigel Jackson would suit me? I know choosing decks is personal but interested in your comments anyway
Cheers

Oooh, me too! I want to hear what people have to say as well. This deck has been on my wishlist for a while though it keeps getting bumped down by sales and rarer decks. But I'll get it eventually.
*waits in tarotholic anticipation* ;)

I just did a search of the forum and found some comments about the deck - worth having a look Keslynn.
I'm even more excited about this deck now- apparently the usual dog who is with the Fool in the RS style decks has been replaced by a cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
Ah, have to call the bookshop now...............

I have been looking at this deck sit in the display case at my local Borders for about 2 months now & can't get myself worked up to buy it, although I keep telling myself I should! I think it is the Fool- he just looks plain silly to me (perhaps as a Fool should?)

i have the deck, got it as a gift from a friend. it is a big deck so be warned all ye with tiny hands...
the wands are air and the swords are fire. only this is mostly so in the aces and not as obvious with the other minors. still it can confuse some.
the art is made out of thousands of tiny lines, looks almost a little shakey but the result is still very pretty,
the cards do have a lot of humor in them. (if you know where to look)
the booklet that follows is a thick one with some gematria information and it is one of the better LWBs i have seen.
but, seeign as i own more then 50 decks this one does get to take the backseat almost all of the time. i have yet to really get to know it and spend some time with it.
there is always the lure of something else...

Here's what I think of it:
I use Robin Wood, and always have done... It has never left my side and it is my fave reading deck. Except for when Nigel Jackson is near! The artwork is wonderful, although at first I wasn't sure I wold like the Renaissance style of it, but for some reason, I don't mind. The colours really bring this deck to life, and the fact that it uses Renaissance style people and settings seems to bring out the flavour of this deck more...
The ir-Fire swap can take some gettng used to if you use elemnts in reading the Minors, but if you don't, then it shouldn't be a problem. The meanings remain largely the same as the traditional RWS meanings.
All the cards are ull of symbolism and meaning, so they're very easy to read. I would give this deck 9/10, wih the large size of the cards bringing it down one notch!

I got this deck after a conversation with some forum members in the chat room one afternoon, and I don't regret it!
I have no problem shuffling the cards. Even the backs are fairly attractive, and reversible (if you use reversals).
3 of my fave cards in this deck are: Tower, it's the tower of babel. And 3 of Swords, it has to people separated by a chasm and the bleeding heart in the middle. 7 of Pentacles, it's a boy or man sitting on the side of the river fishing, at least the pole is in the water, with his hat over his eyes. He looks so relaxed and lazy.
There is traditional RWS symbolism and also the "pip" type representations as well.
I haven't used this deck for a while (I'm working with my World Spirit to see if it will accept me) but the readings I have done with it were quite nice and not hard to interpret at all.
Enjoy it!
R :)
