I was in Borders today looking in the tarot case when I spotted a new set "Tarot for Dummies" ! Can u believe it?! It's actually a Rider-Waite deck with a mini-sized version of the book "Tarot for Dummies" (Looks just like all the "dummy" books , yellow and black) . I actually have the large size "Tarot for Dummies" book, bought it last year, have skimmed through it a few times. What will they come up with next? Maybe the set should have a "dummy" deck? At least that would be original!

*ROFLMAO* I would love to see the "dummy deck". I have heard really good things about the book Tarot for Dummies ... wish they would have had it around when I started out! Thanks for sharing.

Tarot for Dummies??? Is it by the same people who wrote that whole "for Dummies" series, e.g. Windows for Dummies, so on and so forth...? What is the world coming to?
But, admittedly, when it comes to picking up the intricacies of a new thing, I suspect I fall into the category of "Dummy" rather too well...maybe I ought to get it....
I wonder what a Dummy deck would look like. I think I'd prefer a Simpsons deck, though. *smirk*

Actually the Tarot for Dummies book is written by a well-respected Tarot author, Amber Jayanti, who wrote "Living the Tarot." I've looked through the book, and I thought it was an excellent introduction to Tarot and not at all dumbed down.
I think generally they try to find authors who are well-respected in their field, although the quality of these books can vary widely. For example, there's a Complete Idiot's Guide to Tarot which isn't very good, and an Everything Guide to Tarot (I think that's the name) which isn't good at all. On the other hand, I've recently bought and read the Complete Idiot's Guide to the American Revolution, and the Complete Idiot's Guide to Paganism (I'm not Pagan but wanted something which would let me learn more without necessarily focusing on a specific branch), and found them to be quite good.
