I went to one of the New Age shops near me and bought this deck after seeing some samples of it online...and I must say: I ABSOLUTELY LUV IT.
I have tons of decks, but I've never been able to "relate" to it. I just love the medieval artwork and the illustrations on the back of the cards: it's like they're really mysterious and old...if u know what I mean.
Anyone got any decks to recommend that fit with the above description as well?? :P
And what do you think of this deck?

Hi Finn,
Maybe you also want to check out the Shakespeare deck (also known as Romeo & Guiletta deck) by L. Scapini. I like this one even better than the Medieval Scapini.

Hello Finn, I like this deck too although I haven't bought it. It is one of those I look at and think "someday". It seems like a deck with many details and surprises. There is a thread on this forum about the Romeo and Juliet Tarot by the same artist.

I just heard from a group list that in a year or so, an author might write a companion book to the Medieval Scapini for U.S. Games. My only pout is the author's name wasn't Scapini.
The minors in the Romeo and Juliet have a slight similarity to the Medieval Scapini, but the majors definitely jump from the classic Shakesphere storylines. I bought the small format deck from Del Negro through Alidastore.com
Something wierd about the Medieval Scapini's two of cups: the female and male are very distorted in a way that I don't understand: check it out from a posting of all the cards in the following link:

In contrast, when you look at a Mark Filpas' earlier review of the Romeo & Juliet tarot, you see that Scapini made lovers that seem to fit more equally together (Sun Card):

I think it's the choice of media---because his drawings with a lighter medium than painted oils have a deft, delicate touch. Maybe that is why I was so delighted with his Del Negro decks. I also found the writing enchanting in the English version of these decks...and puzzlingly stodgy in comparison when I check my Medieval again. My memory might be bad, but I was really puzzled last week when I tried to compare.
If you have two of his three decks, which one do you like best?

I prefer the Romeo and Juliette deck, the Medieval is somenhow cartoonish, I like it for collector's sake but I prefer more serious decks to read with.
