I just won another deck on ebay, this time the Tapestry Tarot which, if it's anything like my last three decks on there they are beautiful, but not great for reading with!
Anyone used it? Or just another decorative piece? lol

Hope you didn't pay much for it. It's best purpose is to hold a place in a collection. I don't think the cards were that pretty and it's hard to tell just by looking at the picture which card it is. Post back here when you get it and tell us what you think.

.. I do like this deck but then again, I could be biased since the maker is a old friend of my mums :) As a kid I went to an exhibition of the tapestry she made of the major arcana. I must admit I have hardly no recollection of this though, must have been to little. My mum made some accesories that Y. Jensen used in her tapestry! That makes this deck a bit more special for me I think.
The booklet that came with the exhibition crossed my path quite often though, especially when I first got interested in tarot. I liked to read what she wrote per card and such. She also writes beautiful poems, but since the ones I have here are in dutch they are unreadable for most of you I think.
Last year my sister and I ran into this deck by accident, and decided to buy it as a present for my mum. She loved the present! She just keeps them as a set of cards tho, she doesn't do anything with tarot.
I do think the cards are way to large, and I am not particularly fond of the borders either. I like smaller, better manageable cards I suppose. Perhaps I could try and read with it some time, but I am afraid I don't have that bond with the tapestry deck to read with them...
Anyway, enough rambling. I already had been thinking to post and ask who all knew about this deck, when some time ago I heared someone talk about it elsewhere. And now Allibee brought this deck up. I am curious to find out what others think of it.

Its arrived ... it's arrived!
Ok, got my Tapestry Tarot today, and the artwork is exactly how I thought it would be, and I like it. The art correlates very closely to the rider waite traditions, even when the printed meanings don't, and Death is absolutely the GREATEST card I've ever seen in any deck - amazing.
But I have two BUT's....
1) Whaaaay too large, need a couple of those pointing finger foam hands you get a sports events just to shuffle with!
2) What is the point of the two extra Majors?
Otherwise, I think its a really nice deck that appeals to my artistic and aesthetic values, will it be used to read with?
Maybees!
