i'm considering of purchasing this deck but i'm skeptical about it's readability.
my friend owns this deck and she disliked it because she thought the
scenes on the cards were too "crowded" in. so any insight from you guys would
really help.

i've had the deck but eventually traded it. it's heavily quaballah influenced and i just can't get into it. plus there's all those black empty eyes of ppl and animals on the deck. i've heard that the artist had a reason for the eyes being like that. if you buy the book, it's explained and maybe if i had had the book the eyes wouldn't have creeped me out. even tho there were things i liked about the deck, i just found it unreadable. the colors are nice and vibrant. that's what attracted me to it. i recommend you check for some other threads here on the sacred rose and see what others say about it before you purchase it.

I have used the sacred rose for readings for quite a while allthough it recently stopped speaking to me.
This deck has given me lots of good readings and I find it very easy to read with. The minors really speak to me, the images are traditional enough to recognise and the use of the colors and images made me feel the cards meanings.
I'm planning on giving this deck away to some tarot beginner because I feel it is not fair to not read with this deck which has taught me so much and I feel it really is a good beginners deck because of the easy recognisable pictures.
The only flaw I found in this deck was the majors and the use of these so called sacred roses. Some f the majors were just to 'happy' for me and they lacked the feel of the minors. And as for the roses... I just never bothered with their meanings and it hasn't been a disadvantage for me.

I recently bought the Sacred Rose from eBay. Initially, from just seeing the pictures online, I was put off by the weird eyes in this deck. However, I had a chance to get it and the companion book for really cheap, and what tarotholiic can pass that up? When I got the deck, I found myself pleasantly surprised. I love bright colors, and this deck is chock full of them. Also, the majors spoke to me a lot more than I thought they would. However, some of the minors are more pips than anything else which might make it a little difficult for a beginner to read with.
Note: I haven't had a chance to read with this deck yet (because I got quite a few decks all at once), but it seems like it would read really well. And those eyes didn't freak me out as much as I thought they would.

I have this deck. I think the images are evocative of the meanings of the cards, maybe a good deck to learn with. If you have seen the pictures and you like the style, by all means get it because it is a well-thought-out deck. I hardly ever use it though, because the images seem to be drawn with so many dark lines and the colors are dark too. Not quite my style.

i'm going to order this deck because i really like the "quirkiness" of this
deck. i especially love the eyes of the characters! don't mind me, but i
totally dig the "grim and dreary style". i've been reading on and off for about
three years (i only consult my tarot when i need that special "extra" help). my primary
deck has been the robin wood. i get accurate readings from this deck but
the "waspish" characters do tick me off at times. i also own the fantastical tarot
and the vampire tarot. i use the fantastical tarot rarely because the
minor arcana isn't as effective as i want it to be. the vampire tarot lacks
total readability in my opinion and therefore, i keep it strictly as an art deck.
i'm sure all of you guys have at least ten decks but i like to refrain from the
tarot addiction. besides, i have to save up for grad school next year. lol!

~gulp~ :P ... so who are you talking about? ~giggles~
Mansonatto, the Sacred Rose was one of the 1st 5 decks I owned and I still have it. Grim is not a word I would use to describe the deck as the colors are way to vibrant for it to fall in this category. The eyes do not bother me either. I personally really like the use of the sacred roses, and although the Qabalah is one of my areas of interest I never really found its understanding essential for the understanding of this deck. I think of it very much as a Raider Waite based deck. I found it readable and not hard to use. I hope you enjoy the deck. I have had mine for about 7 years and I have no intention of trading it :).
