My friend gave me a postcard recently. it featured tarot cards for marilyn manson. anyways, i went to the same music store he bought it from to buy a number of the same postcards and send them to some of you guys, but alas, they didn't have it then. so i just scanned them and posted it here. dunno if the deck's complete, though. probably isn't.

Nicely done, really. Appropriately gloomy and cynical, given the source.

I really really love it! I think marilyn manson is a bout as original as a roll of toilet paper...but this deck is wonderfull. I like the dark romance of it. I would even like some on my walls!
If you find out where to get it... I want to know!

Wow when i saw the title of this thread i thought "o no!!!!" I really don't like that guy but he certainly seems to have some grasp on the tarot cause the images are really good. I like the detail of the emperor in a wheelchair..he is indeed a little bound by the earth in a way!

Whoever was behind staging the cards seems to have a grasp on the tarot. I am sure that Marilyn wasn't behind it, other than to say, "Ok, now make sure it makes people go, 'Ewwwwwww!'
It did surprise me that it does follow some tarot symbolism more than superficially.

Is there any chance that John 5's squeeze Aria Giovanni appears in the cards? You know, maybe he and she are hand in hand on the card that signifies LUCKY AS SHEEEEITE.
PLEASE FIND OUT MORE ABOUT AVAILABILITY!

On the back of the postcards - doesn't it say who the printer is/was? They might have more information.

I believe the cards first showed up on the CD cover insert for his album "Holy Wood" . It's a pity they're not really a full deck and I don't believe there really is a physical deck .................... but how do you know marilyn wouldn't know anything about tarot cards?

Well, if his fans (as well as people who despise him but like the cards) show enough interest, they might eventually release a full deck. I mean, if it's a good enough deck to appeal to Tarot people and is Manson-y enough to appeal to his fans, it's bound to sell.

Rolls on the floor laughing... thank you, Umbrae, confirmed my suspicions about Manson as a petulant little jerk who thinks in broad generalizations and screams "Look at MEEEEE!!! Look at MEEEEEE! I am the grossest thing alive!!!" And THAT is why I do not believe he is at all behind the intelligence of tarot understanding that is behind the cards.
I think his little battle with Eminem proves the point that people can distinguish between cartoon and reality. Though I disagree with many of the things Eminem speaks out on, I see in him an intelligence and honesty that Manson does not even comprehend.
Peace!

I Read the Article. Are you SURE it's true, not something dreamed up by the press? If it's true , that is pretty pathetic, I'll admit, actually knocking on people's doors. I haven't been keeping up on my Manson news I guess, and never heard he was jealous of eminem. I think the press loves to get ahold of OR make up this type of info and run with it. Perhaps Manson feels that heavy metal is going out , as "hip hop" or whatever it is , is coming in. And he refuses to let it die?!
BUT whatever the case, I do Not believe that manson is unintelligent , Khatruman. He may be disgusting and many other things, but stupid, No. I do believe he has the intelligence to grasp tarot. He's also an intelligent buisinessman. Most people who become famous as he is in music do have their finger on the pulse of what people, or kids Want , what makes them tick, what they will buy etc.
On another note, Alice Cooper is a member of Mensa ( The club for people with genius IQ'S)
Of course Marilyn Manson kind-of makes Alice Cooper look like Mr. normal Joe. My point is, I'm offended that you keep stating and assuming that manson has a low IQ just because YOU don't care for his music........................

Ah... isn't the Onion a newspaper for humour (ie. not real news)? Always check out yer sources!!! :)
OK, I'm generalizing here, so someone call me on this if I'm wrong... but the way I see it, if Manson had any business sense, him and his business ppl would probably realize that a chunk of his fan base is probably familiar w/tarot and that a crap job wouldn't do. Also, if anyone's questioning Manson's intelligence, check out Bowling for Columbine ^_~

Intelligence aside, from what I've seen, I'd definitely guess that Marilyn Manson is a better person by far than Eminem. The former is a guy who found a way to make money in show buisiness and take out his aggressions at the same time. The latter is a wife-beating ****. There's a difference.

Bowling for Columbine is a documentary directed and written by Michael Moore. He interviews Manson for a little bit (remember Manson became the media whipping boy when the press started printing that the 2 boys involved in the Columbine shootings listened to Manson). I remember in the press conference for the Toronto Film Festival, local reporters said that Moore had painted Canada in a Utopian light, and deliberately tried to avoid interviewing intelligent Americans. Moore simply said something like: what about Marilyn Manson? His answers were very intelligent and he's American.

Re: isthmus nekoi
Well, as I see it, that's more of a blow to Michael's integrity than to Marilyn's intelligence.

My point is, I'm offended that you keep stating and assuming that manson has a low IQ just because YOU don't care for his music........................ I was the biggest Alice Cooper fan there was, and several heavy metal albums still grace my collection. No, I do know there is intelligence in heavy metal, or goth, or death metal. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is an amazingly intelligent and challenging musician. Metallica challenged the heavy metal scene in many ways and helped it expand to what it is now. Mr. Manson simply does things, as I see, to merely shock, not to stretch boundaries. I have not seen or heard him do anything that attempts to stretch the boundaries of the music. Korn and others like them see hip/hop and rap and infuse it with the power of metal and help bring both genre's together. I wondered too, after my initial reading of the article, about the veracity of the information. It does sound too outlandish to be true, and perhaps it is trumped up by the press.
Please don't make assumptions about my taste in music before you have asked me. I don't condemn metal in the least. I think it needs to be rebellious, but it also needs to be more than spiteful, which is all I see Manson doing, name, getups, antics and all. Put him up against the true pioneers of the genre and he's just a sick boy trying to be heard. If anything, I think he may be more responsible for dragging metal into the dirt rather than letting it evolve.
However, I see there are quite a few fans to flock to his side and talk about the value of his message, so I don't presume to sway anyone's view. After all, you know more than I about the man. Actually, were folks to rail against Alice Cooper back when I was a teen, I would quickly rally to his defense. Now, where are Mr. Manson's Mensa credentials?
Peace!

... just a small note to bring this thread back to Tarot in a round-about way...
the founder of Mensa too 'created' a Tarot deck - or at least copied much of Pamela Colman-Smith's images of the Waite deck. Well worth a look, as his limited colouration adds much to the design of his Royal Fez-Moroccan deck...
and so, we've linked the Tarot which is depicted with images of M. Manson, with Alice Cooper's Mensa membership, to Mensa's link to Tarot... :)

~Wonders if Mensa might consider making a Heavy Metal tarot using the Manson Cards, and adding some with Alice Cooper ... hmmmmm~ I mean, afteral there is a Rock-n-Roll Tarot why not a Heavy Metal Tarot?

It was an interesting article, and it was insightful. I apologize and feel I stand corrected concerning Manson's intelligence level. I do disagree with his tact to simply offend everyone, and find him too gothically tragic for my tastes, but I do see he has a mission and a vague understanding of the tarot. Also, it sounds like he had constructed a Majors Only deck there and actually has cards. Wonders if he would publish them.
Peace!

That was a pretty interesting article. I'm not sure I totally agree with all the meanings he used for the cards in his reading. He seems to be a bit of a dabbler, and not seriously studying. I think it's rather telling that he wasn't sure about the meaning of the High Preistess. Maybe such mysteries are beyond him at this time?
