I want it! I want it! I want it!

You have given me the tarotholic bug again!

R :)

Pollux  01 Mar 2003
Hey Redwood that's just like cheating! gave you that link and now you want to take merit for the raving??? *LOL* Mh.. I'll have to call a tarot-holic penalty and see what the referee thinks (where's truthsayer? *LOL*)

BTW, I WANT THIS DECK!!! Yeah, bottom of my wishlist cos I have decided I ain't going to spend as much as I used to just on decks (just I said *LOL*) - but I will hopefully manage to grab one of these in a not-so-remote future.

I absolutely love that vampiric Queen of Pentacles, there's something so neat about the choice but I don't know what exactly. Maybe including the "evil" aspect of nature/pentacles as well... Mh... And the Devil and the Death card are just awesome!!! The glowy demon is just wicked. BUT Knight of swords and 9 of Sword are absolutely my favourites! Gotta love that gargoyle! :D *LOL*

I only wish I could see Lovers (major searching campaign I foresee, but wice hasn't got pics and tarotpassages will only have some in some time).

RedWood  01 Mar 2003
Whoops for not giving Pollux Credit for giving me the link to the site... I know Tarotgarden has a few scans.. I Love the 4 of swords!!!

Any chance the penalty could be a new deck for me? :D

Kath  02 Mar 2003
I've just bought this deck on ebay! I should get it in a few days, but the pics look sooo cool! This should be a very interesing deck to work with. It's dark, but not gory or or gross. I'll let ya know what the full deck looks like when I get it.. and I'll scan the Lovers card for Pollux :)

Cheers
Kath

Pollux  02 Mar 2003
Oh Kath you are a star!!! :* :* :* *LOL*
That's very sweet of you, thanks!

Well, couldn't expect less from a fellow Kath/Cat ;) *LOL*
Meeeeeeoooowwwwwwww *LOL*

*happy dance*

dolphingirl  02 Mar 2003
Hi Everyone

I bought this deck off of Ebay for $19.00 and have to say after all of my ebay purchases off of Ebay this was the worst one for customer satisfaction. I bought it and the charged $4.95 and it was sent media rate for less than $2.00 then when I opened it up the cards were all dented on the corners so I contacted the seller about replacing the deck cause you couldnt' even shuffle them right and they said that they wouldn't send me out a new deck till they had recieved my old deck back ( I have over 1,500 + feedbacks so I was alittle put out after waiting over 2 weeks for the deck to get here media rate) so I spend over $ 5.00 to send it back priority with insurrance and they won't reimburst me for my return postage even though the deck was defective!!!! So now my deck is costing me an extra $5.00 . So about a month after the auction I finally have my deck that has now cost me an extra $ 5.00 and I have totally lost any excitement I had over getting it.

Emily  02 Mar 2003
I knew I shouldn't have come in here, the cards show are amazing, think I'll go and check around see if any of my usual online shops are selling it :) lol
If not, another one added to my wishlist :D

Hi Dolphingirl, I am so sorry to hear of your annoying adventure.
And I do understand that your excitement would have been watered down irretrievably.

All in all, I am not so sure your choice was... *the best*.
I was very curious when I was given the link, also because I liked the deck a lot and it was very cheap! Just $15! So I emailed the people at the site, and in reply, if I wanted to buy a deck directly from them it would cost 15$ plus $8 of Airmail shipping to Italy - a total of 23 that is not bad at all!
However, if I do decide to get it, I'll be checking The Tarot Garden first and see if the price is similar (in which case I might lean towards them, so as to give extra bucks to Solandia :D).

In all honesty, skeptic and lucky though I have been with Ebay (thanks to those who helped me with that!), I wouldn't have bought a deck for 19% on Ebay, at least not if I knew it was only 15$ and not before checking somewhere else (like at the site or at Tarot Garden).

*runs to hide in the cave*

RedWood  02 Mar 2003
This is the link to Tarotgarden..they have a couple different scans then the website.http://www.tarotgarden.com/boutique/onlinecatalog.php?view_title=gothic+vargo

Jewel  03 Mar 2003
ohhhhh ... now that looks like a deck I would like just for collection purposes! WHEN I order it it will definetly be through Tarot Garden as I know I will get excellent service and get my deck quickly and in perfect condition.

Dolphingirl, I am really sorry you had to jump through all those hoops to the point where you cannot even enjoy your deck!

RedWood  03 Mar 2003
AMAZING...I am not disppointed..It is beautiful..The color..I am just in awe of this deck!! Definately GET IT!! WORTH the cheap price they have it for!! Worth more then that!

Jewel  04 Mar 2003
Redwood, I wish you had not said that! Now I have to have it! Lets see how long it takes me before I break down and order it ...

cjtarot  04 Mar 2003
Redwood,

WHY....WHY.....I don't need another deck (or do I)...

this deck is wonderful...SO does anyone want to trade for a bag..hehe..

CJ

RedWood  04 Mar 2003
No trade from me..My Husband told me ...NO TRADING ..even if I never used it..LOL he wants his own..I told him he could use mine LOL..He gave me a dirty look for that...

I find the deck interesting because most of the cards are in the light blue..but there are a few that have more color..and they POP out...The Knights are definately part of my favorites! from this deck..

Pollux  04 Mar 2003
I promise I am getting one.

I promise everyone is getting one.

Ok Red? Please stop raving! *LOL*

Violet Gargoyle  04 Mar 2003
Gargoyles! They've got Gargoyles!!!! Whooo Hooo!

Oh yeah- Heres a direct link: http://www.monolithgraphics.com/pages/tarot.html

Astraea  05 Mar 2003
My Vargo Gothic deck arrived today and I love it completely -- but the Tower card has a large blue blob of ink in the lower left-hand corner. Would those of you who have this deck look at yours and tell me if this is present in your cards, too? Thank you! :)

Rhiannon  05 Mar 2003
I got it! I got it! I got it!

And it's wonderful! :D Astraea, I checked mine out and no ink blot. Sometimes I don't mind when things like that happen though, it makes your particular deck unique, ya know?

Pollux, you will LOVE the Knight of Wands in this deck!

R :)

Astraea  05 Mar 2003
Rhiannon, aren't these cards wonderful? Beautiful artwork! I think you're right about the ink blob -- it does add a note of distinction! Enjoy your deck. :)

Kath  05 Mar 2003
I'm desperately hanging out for my deck to arrive now! Hopefully I should get it early next week!

Kath

Icestorm  06 Mar 2003
Does anyone know the postage and handling charged by Tarot Garden for an order from australia?

Ive had bad experiences with most internet shops (Ebay, UK.Gamer, Amazon) but with all the good feedback for tarotgarden in this forum im tempted to buy from them.

HudsonGray  06 Mar 2003
Love the ravens! I wonder, being goth & all dark like that, if the cards would shift the meanings to the shadow side too much to make it a balanced sort of reading for someone? Using it to read for the public.....your market would be narrowed down to sf fans & goth types mostly. I can't see the everyday housewife staring at those on a table in front of a reader & being very comfortable about what they're told.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

PMS Warning--Do not irritate me or I will leap through your window & beat you to death with a pair of mating squirrel monkeys.

Pollux  06 Mar 2003
Wow great everyone is getting their own Gothic Tarot.

Will anybody please scan the deck for me?
A SPECIFIC anybody if possible? ;)

Pleaseeeeeeeeee!

I can't buy it right now cos I am trading and shipping is bitchy!

Astraea  06 Mar 2003
Icestorm, write Tarot Garden an email at sales@tarotgarden.com and ask what the shipping costs would be. I know they will be fair with you and that your deck will arrive well-wrapped and in great shape.

HudsonGray, I don't see this as an all-purpose deck, but it would be wonderful for certain types of questions and querents. Also -- even though it's gothic, I find it imaginative and fun. It's been awhile since I've enjoyed a new deck this much. :)

Xarokys  07 Mar 2003
I've been buying too many decks lately and I was going to slow down for awhile. Thanks alot, all you tarot-enablers. I sent away for a copy today. Also a copy of Madame Endora's Fortune cards, even though it's not a tarot deck it looks interesting.

I hope they don't take too long to arrive.

Alissa  07 Mar 2003
I've heard Red raving about these cards in chat for the past few days and now I have to admit ... I could see myself buying a set (as I still am wanting a "dark deck") at some point.

But, money being what it is, I'm afraid it will have to go pretty far down my wishlist as well ... so I'm waitin' with ya, Pollux.

They do look pretty cool, regardless of who actually "wants" to use them (perhaps Goth housewives??)

Amythist  07 Mar 2003
I love the name of that deck and i may llok on the site and see what it looks like

Amythist  07 Mar 2003
I am thinking about getting that deck for the pentagramm. is it a nice to look at. and are the drawings good pollux

Kath  10 Mar 2003
I got it, I got it !!! It's wonderful..... It's dark, and some of the cards are kinda creepy, but in a really good way. I love the 7 of Pents. I have just one criticism though, the Empress, Lovers and High Priest cards are basically the same card :( They all have the same archway but different characters standing under it. But nevertheless I really like this deck. Has anyone done readings with this deck yet? I'm quite interested in how it 'talks'.

Cheers
Kath

Hedera  10 Mar 2003
*sighs*
Guess this one is on my wish list, too.....:D
Could anyone scan or describe the backs?

Hmmm... I haven't actually seen these three cards yet, but if they are different characters in the same setting... I would think the artist has a very good reason for this. Is he trying to point out some relation between these cards? How might this affect the way you interpret the cards... what you "see" in them?

Pollux  12 Mar 2003
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I LOVE IT!!!!!!
Kath was SO KIND to scan the deck for me, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!
The cards are so beautiful, so goth, I especially love those with gargoyles...
What can I say? I love the courts, they are just great. Redwood is right, the Knights are the BEST cards in the deck - followed by Queens and Kings.
And the MAJORS!!! I just LOVE Temperance and Death, and The Magician and the Emperor. Even though Lovers, High Priestess and Moon really do nothing for me in comparisono with the others, I like them all the same.
Mh... I think this is the deck I am going for next, after I have set some trades still pending and got me another thing first... But I just ... NEED this deck! *LOL*

Beautiful, so beautiful. And creepy, gorgeous, my gosh!

Jewel  12 Mar 2003
~gives Pollux a dirty look~ Now look what you are about to make me do! ~holds fingers milimiters apart~ I am this far from ordering this deck! You enabler you! ~chuckles~ You know how we weak I am ... but I am going to try to resist at least through the weekend. *LOL*.

Kath  12 Mar 2003
Why don't I just send you the scans of the cards too..... Mwa Ha Ha Haaaa!!

Cheers
Evil Kath

cjtarot  24 Mar 2003
Hi..

I just got my deck...LOVE IT...I am getting the Fortune Cards next..

http://www.monolithgraphics.com/pages/fortune.html

I want to respond to the quote about the Lovers, the High Priest and the Empress standing in the same arch..

The Empress, guards her home...the relm of beond. (note the Emperor is inside with all the babe's doing NOTHING)

The Hight PRiest guards the knowledge in the Relm of beond

The Lovers..It is your choice (or is it) to enter into the Relm..note the lovers almost look farther into the arch..

Also look at the High Priestess and the 9 of cups...
.
The HP..guarding the unknow of our sub consious - or the door to the afterlife.

The 9 of cups.. Cups are emotion, our life flow if you will..the 9 is showing the final preperation before we are fufilled, before the final journey into the ultimate unknow..(Note the 10 of cups is within that arch..the claiming or the dark angel leading you away)

I glances at the book..tossed it and relized..this is a deck I can "See" with..the meanings are in the pictures, the feel..

I wish you all had this deck..that's pretty close to my usual "Blessing"

CJ

Xarokys  02 Apr 2003
What a fantastically dark, eerie deck. It may lean a little (or a lot) to the shadow side, but who cares. Sometimes you need a deck like that to counterbalance some of those fluffy decks. I like it a lot better than the Vampire tarot.

I have a problem with mine, though. I've got an extra Six of Cups and no Four of Cups. Anyone else missing a card? I've just emailed Monolith Graphics so hopefully they'll send me the missing card.

Becky

Astraea  02 Apr 2003
Becky, Monolith Graphics is extremely customer-responsive. When I got my deck -- which I LOVE -- the Tower had a big blob of blue ink in one corner. The company sent me a replacement card within a week of notification of the problem. I think you'll be very pleased with Monolith's customer service. :)

Xarokys  04 Apr 2003
Monolith answered my e-mail very quickly and they are sending me a 4 of Cups. Definitely, very good customer service.

cjtarot  04 Apr 2003
hi all,

Monoith is great, BUT their advertising methods WORK...lol

When I rec. my Gothic deck, it came with a card from their Madame Endora's Fortune Cards, and poor taroholic me just had to buy them.

I LOVE THEM and will be ranting in a new thread soon.

I wonder if Pamala Steele would consider contacting them or has...I am not sure the Steele Wizzard deck is up their alley, I am dying to get my hands on a published copy of that deck as well.

Blessings,

CJ

RedWood  05 Apr 2003
LOL CJ...Oh yeah that card in the Gothic deck makes me yearn fro the madame one..But..will i use it even if i had it? (we all know i trade away anything i dont use)

Xarokys  09 Apr 2003
Monolith Graphics certainly does have very good customer service. They have sent me the missing Four of Cups in record time, and they included a new title card signed by the artist in gold ink! So now I've got a signed deck. Cool!

The extra Six of Cups will make a perfect bookmark. It's a ghostly woman reading a book.

Becky

Hedera  04 Oct 2003
... But I've finally given in!

You know, it being October and all, Halloween coming up, and that dark time of the year in general, when I want moody and gloomy things around me.....;)

I've just sent Jeannette (from Tarotgarden) an email asking her to send me a deck.

I am thrilled, I'm really looking forward to it! :D

Ooooh, and this is post number 6...6....6...!

:D :D ;)

Dark_angel  04 Oct 2003
I've had this deck for a while now, and I absolutely adore it - it's become my main reading deck. Oh, they're all so beautiful. I love the Knights, especilally Cups and Pentacles. Do you think there's a message in the fact that the Knight of Cups is so dreamy and dangerous looking at the same time?

Just found this thread and had to express my love for this deck. The Fortune Cards are on my list too!

xxx

Requiella  05 Oct 2003
I'm planning to get this one...just as soon as I can get around to it...

WolfSpirit  06 Oct 2003
Cool bat on the website :D !

I completely overlooked this thread, maybe because I am not a fan of everything gothic but deck I really like. Price is not too bad either...is there also a book with the deck (don't know if I want or need it, just curious).

Hm, my wishlist is growing again.

Chronata  06 Oct 2003
wow...I was on another thread and I could HEAR you all raving about this deck from way over there!(LOL!)

When I got my Madame Endora cards, there was a card in there advertising this deck...and I thought it looked really cool...and now that I have seen more cards from it...

Oh oh oh...I must have this deck!

I absolutely have to order it and use it for Halloween.

I usually hire myself out for parties around the end of October, and I have been wanting a dramatic, spooky and very engaging gothic sort of deck. I wasn't so impressed with the vampire tarot...but this one...

...it is gorgeous! And I must go before I end up drooling all over this keyboard!

dolphinprincess  06 Oct 2003
this is probably one of the last decks in the world i would have *expected* myself to like.. but i WANT it :o).... i was looking at the Halloween deck, but now I'm torn... Decisions!

Hedera  06 Oct 2003
The Halloween, I think you absolutely NEED for this month. It is just so perfect!
If you like the Nightmare-before-Christmas kind of Halloween, that is (which I do!).

The Gothic is just a very nice, dark, general deck - so you could get away with waiting until November to get that one....:D

Umbrae  06 Oct 2003
I find my Gothic very readable...

dolphinprincess  07 Oct 2003
Okay, Hedera..I ordered the Halloween Tarot. I've wanted this one for so long - and with it being October - you are right, I had to get it :o)

However, I'm not so sure I'll wait til November for the Gothic.. tsk tsk!..

mercenary30  08 Oct 2003
This deck just made my wish list. I have not ordered yet, but I will be soon. Gotta....force.....myself ......to .....resist......a....little .........longer..

dolphinprincess  08 Oct 2003
Well, as I said... I wasn't sure I was going to wait til November - and I didn't. I ordered it yesterday :o) Cant' wait!

galadrielsphial  07 Nov 2003
I cannot hold out any longer...I am buying this deck! Though I'm not sure it's entirely my decision...I think my Vampire Tarot has been asking for a new friend to play with for the past month. ;) While I was browsing the Monolith site, I also bought one of the journals (Possession), and figure it will be a perfect journal for recording my impressions and readings of this deck. Now I'll be waiting impatiently until they come in the mail!

WolfyJames  07 Nov 2003
I couldn't resist either. I saw both decks (The Gothic Tarot and Madame Eudora's Fortune cards) on reviews at Illumination Tarot, many many months ago, but I was saving my money for a new computer so I couldn't buy them. Now that I've bought my computer, I ordered both decks from Tarot Garden. Jeanette was very nice. Now, I just have to wait...

catlin  10 Nov 2003
Ok, I think I will give in. I think there will be at least one Gothic deck in my collection.

faunabay  10 Nov 2003
This is sooo funny! I also broke down this morning and ordered the Gothic AND Madame Endora's !!! ROFL
I just went ahead and called Jeannette to order them (because I couldn't wait hehe) and she told me the full moon eclipse must have affected alot of people into buying new decks, because when she checked her email this morning she had tons of requests!!! :D :* :D

WolfyJames  17 Nov 2003
I finally got them, both Gothic and Madame Eudora.

The Gothic Tarot's cards are large and I like it this way (large cards), we can see better the details wrapped in the artwork. The cards are laminated but a bit thin, it has a bad smell too, and I hope soon it will go away. The artwork is just magnificent and breathtaking. The back is black with a non reversable red design. There is a 24 pages LWB with it.

There are a few cards I don't like though: Justice, The Hanged Man, Moon and Sun. They are weak compared to the other cards. Like the Hanged Man, a bat like demon suspended upside down, his feet on the border, with no background. I would have seen easily the same character in a cemetery hanged on a dead tree instead of this blunt card. But the rest of the deck is so well done that I'll forgive these details to the artist. Like The Lovers, a vampire and his victim, or beloved; he embraces her tenderly and passionatly from behind and gives her a kiss on the neck, before bitting her and making her belong to him, joined in eternity, I guess. Beautiful card!

It is going to require from me to study this deck carefully for me to understand it to its fullest. Anyone interested in a study group?

And for the Madame Eudora's Fortune cards, the cards are like the Gothic, but it doesn't have the bad smell. Beautiful artwork as well, but more colorful compared to the monochrom and dark Gothic. The back is black again but this time with a reversable golden design. There is a 30 pages LWB that comes with it.

WolfyJames  17 Nov 2003
Well, I just started a study group in General on The Gothic Tarot. See you!

galadrielsphial  28 Nov 2003
It's here! It's here! I finally pulled it out of my mailbox and literally ran back into the house so I could open it. :) Yes, I did notice a bit of a smell to the cards, but that will hopefully go away after airing out a few days. I officially love this deck from beginning to end. Once I'm on my winter break from school I am definitely working very closely with this deck and joining the new study group.

Store the deck in a cloth bag. Put some sort of essential oil on the inside of the bag, next to the seam which lays along the sides of the cards (so that it does not ‘soak’ a single card back or front. Be sure to shuffle the deck daily. The aroma of manufacturing does linger…

Tallarico  28 Nov 2003
I had gotten the Gothic by Vargo. Before I ordered it, I thought it was a cool deck. I had seen lots of the cards. The deck arrived and as I looked through it, I just didn't jive with it. Way toooooo dark. I have The Vampire Tarot and like it. This one just struck me in a wierd way....Spooky.

BTW: My deck didn't smell. However it came with a pen mark on the Chariot.

I assure you that you will be welcome with warmth in our study group; don't fear, we are not going to bite you and drink your blood.;)

on tarotgarden.com?

And it came in two days.

Oh, I never had any fear of that. I do love the deck, after all. ;)

WolfSpirit  29 Nov 2003
I am the person Tallarico is sending the deck to, it should be somewhere in between our homes now (and there is a lot of distance between us) and I wonder how I will like the deck when I actually have it in my hands...I don't go for dark decks normally, but sometimes you just want to try one and I liked what I saw of this deck. Or maybe I will trade it on too ;)
At least it will be an interesting experiment, a different kind of deck for me...

Alissa  30 Nov 2003
Man ......

Just when I thought my deck collection was doing fine, and I had rid myself of my "Tarot deck lust" ......

Everyone keeps talking about this deck lately in the study group, and now I think I *have* to buy one ......

Tallarico  02 Dec 2003
As I was searching for the Fey...I came across this on Ebay. It is a signed edition...thought someone may be interested. The auction ends in approx. 1 day.

WolfSpirit  05 Dec 2003
I just got my deck and I think most of the cards look great. The symbolism in the majors is pretty clear to me, but I have to give the minors a closer look to see why the images are that way.
The only card that gives me the creeps is the five of swords, but it may be because I am reading about that period in history when people got beheaded and their heads put on stakes for all reasons, for example for having a different belief from the official one :( really a very dark period in history...

I am used to gentler decks for personal readings, but I want to use the deck for Shadow Work and maybe for readings for other people when I get used to the symbolism.
