This thread does not replace the listing made in that so popular and active thread, but selects ten types of decks for listing.
In this poll, more than one option can be chosen. I have time-closed the poll to the end of 2003, and it can be re-started next year again as our collections change.
Some decks may be difficult to classify in any of the above, and will thus just be excluded. For example, neither the 1jj nor the Suprafino is a Marseilles-type, yet close.

Does the Universal Waite count as a RWS or as a clone?

Hmmm... interesting poll jmd. After thinking about it... the majority of mine are either, RWS, RWS-types or themed. I didn't check the Thoth, though I do have a Thoth-based deck. Looking forward to seeing the results...

I have decks in all of these categories, so I clicked them all! I think I have more RWS and Thoth clones, and more themed decks than anything else, and I have the least number of decks in the Egyptian category than any others, since I'm not a big fan of Egyptian decks.

i only got one egyption themed deck but that one is a gem. it is the Ibis deck
i do miss both a Visconti a Wirth and Eteilla. i also don't got any of the Minchiate decks. so as you can see i got some big gaps in the historical deck department.

I found this to be an interesting poll, and I did have a lot of the categories... I do have a Cagliostro Egyptian tarot, but I am not sure if it is Falconnier influenced (forgive my ignorance, but I don't know who that is or was), so I didn't check that category. I think what we may get here in this thread is a debate amongst the Marsailles, RW, and Thoth groups. This will be a good one to go back to.
Peace!

i have at least one of all those listed, except golden dawn or egyptian types. this is directly reflective of my taste--which i'm only just realizing--where i primarily enjoy medieval and renaissance styled decks for collecting. i also like to study those decks that have been important to tarot, like crowley-harris or waite-smith.
this is an almost 180 degree shift in my collecting habits; i used to have about 120 decks. i was hanging on to decks that i didn't really find attractive, but only kept because they were OOP or the latest thing out there. i guess this was a phase where, if it said "tarot", I HAD TO HAVE IT! now, at about 30 decks, i am much, much more selective (and occasionally too impoverished, i must admit).
these categories make sense--i've never thought about the different selections this way...too busy frenetically grabbing up decks with no rhyme or reason!

Wow Metaz!!! That is impressive! 120 to 30!!!! You must teach classes on this....lol! What made you decide to one day start thinning out your collection? I'd be interested in what decks you kept of the 30.

Hi everybody - I'm new here and this is my first post, so I thought I'd count up my decks. 45. I didn't realize I had that many. I certainly don't use them all. I also have 3 more on the way; Ohso-Zen, Victoria Regina, and Wild Spirit. My favorite decks for reading for myself is the Sacred Circle, and Voyager for meditation. I do carry around a small pocket size RW , just because. My round decks are Daughters of the Moon, and Motherpeace - don't use those either - too ackward. Also have the Visconti Sforza, and Cary-Yale Visconti. While I was waiting for my account to be activated I surfed around a bit, and this is the best tarot site going - IMHO. I'm going to look around and see if I can find some critiques on the Victoria Regina deck, the sample cards that I saw were eye-catching, but I have never been too keen on black and white cards. Anyway - good to be here, perhaps Ill go and introduce myself in the new members section.

Most of my decks fall into the themed category, with the exception of Robin Wood, which I consider to be more a Rider Waite Smith derivative.

I got one vote for the RWS decks and one vote for the themed decks.:D (I think that the Mythic and Sacred Circle would fit in the themed..??..well thats where I put them;))
Cheers
