I recently was able to acquire the Lo Scarabeo Universal Tarot, and I like it so far. The cards are an interesting twist on the traditional RWS. I like most of them, except for the High Priestess and Magician. The High Priestess looks like a white Eirka Badu, and the Magicial looks stoned out of his gourd.
I like the backing on the cards too. Much different than other LS decks. I like it better.
I have a question for RiccardoLS though, or anyone who can answer. What are the languages on the cards? I know Italina, English, Spanish, French, and German, but I don't know the last one.
Does anyone else have this deck? What do you think?

The sixth language is "Dutch".

Hi Phoenix,
I have this one - I bought it a good while ago, sort of by mistake: I had been reading about people referring to the Rider Waite and the Universal Rider Waite, and saw the word 'Universal' on the box, and got it..only to discover it wasn't what I had thought it was.
I rather like it - it's interesting to put the cards from this and the RW side by side and see the differences, which sometimes are great, sometimes not so much.
One thing I do notice is that the people in the Universal one are often facing the opposite direction - like a mirror image of the RW.
Will have another look and see if I can see any more :)
love

Maybe he ate some Magus Mushrooms?

...this deck not only is in the Comparative Tarot deck, it's used to illustrate a new Llewellyn book, "Tarot and Dream Interpretation" by Julie Gillentine. (Robert Place's beautiful cover had me looking through the book out of curiosity to see if it had his illustrations. But it doesn't)
Anyway, I'm thinking of using the LS Universal Tarot or the Comparative with the exercises in dreamwork...interesting...

I got it recently, too.
The sixth language appears to be Dutch.
I agree about the backs; they are quite handsome. I wish U.S. Games and AG Muller would take note of this: NOT ALL CARD BACKS HAVE TO BE UGLY AND PLAID! (sorry, pet peeve!)
The artwork is far superior to the RWS; some of the subjects actually have expressions, e.g., the devil, the King of Swords, the 4 of Pentacles, the King of Cups, and the 9 of Cups. I wish some of the people that write tarot books would consider this deck in the future and not rely on good 'ol mediocre RWS. If enough authors chose this deck instead, people wouldn't complain so much about poor art, rotten backs, etc.
