Ok, again.
I recently came into posession of four brand new decks!
1. Fournier Marseille: This is a re-colouration of the Marseille(conver?) deck. I like the colours in this deck, and I feel that this will become a reading deck in no time.
2. Feng Shui Tarot: The jury is still out on this one. I like the art work, but the suit associations make absolutely no sense! The suits are: Black tortoises for Wands, White Tigers for Swords, Red Phoenixes for Cups, and Green Dragons for Pentalces. Well, I for one will always associate the Phoenix with fire, therefor wands. I still like this deck, but will never read with it.
3. Shapeshifter Tarot: I like the artwork on this one(I am a fan of Lisa Hunt), but I don't like it as much as her other deck, the Celtic Dragon Tarot. The cards are kinda busy, but I do like the book. Again, probably not one I will read with, but I like it none the less.
4. The Witches Runes: I will admit, I wasn't a big fan of either Nigel Jackson, or Silver RavenWolf, but once I saw this deck in person(I used it as a "piggy back" trade), I decided that I liked the artwork after all. The book is actually pretty good as well(for a RavenWolf book...), at least the parts on the actual runes are. The only downfall is some of the last chapters in the book look a little, sketchy. I know how Umbrae feels about rune cards, but I don't care! Plus, what makes cards any less powerful.
What to you guys feel about these decks?

Phoenix, I can only speak about the Feng Shui tarot and the Witches Runes, as they are the only ones I have of the four sets of cards you mention. I agree with you about them. The artwork on the Feng Shui deck is outstanding, but the suit associations cause problems for a lot of people, myself included. I wanted so badly to be able to read with it, but just can't. The phoenix as water is a bit hard to swallow, no pun intended.
I love the Witches Runes! Nigel Jackson's artwork is more intuitive than even he might realize, and his card illustrations pack a big wallop, often in subtle ways. The book isn't bad, but the cards are worth the price of the set IMO.

I agree with you about what yoyu said about the runes and Feng Shui. I just don't like the suit changes to the tarot...it makes no sense. Oh well. Stunning art work though.
The runes are really nice, and have actually re-kindled my interest in them. Hopefully I will learn more about them.

Boy, must be tax refunds time coming in or something!!! All these new decks...
I have always had a side eye on the shapeshifter... must tell me how it is.
For me, I just picked up the Victoria Regina and the Tarot of the Spirit at Borders for Teacher Appreciation sale. So many people have recommended the V-R, and freesiaskye had turned me on to the Tarot of the Spirit... this is a wonderful deck. It is kind of like a softer Thoth...
Plus..i have an Ancient Minchiate Etruria and the Shakespearian Tarot on the way...wooo hooo..just rollin in decks

I've always wondered why the Tarot of the Spirit doesn't receive more widespread attention -- it is so beautiful and is definitely in the Thoth tradition.

Indeed it is... and, as a matter of fact, now that I have it, I think it is a great recommendation for those who want something in the Thoth vein, but find the Crowley deck too scary..

I never knew a deck could be too pretty hehe
I have the shapeshifter and I use it for readings as well. I find it a deck that will not so much give me practical answers but it's good for spiritual readings or for giving directions.
For me it also works for meditations.
Tarot of the Spirit
this was the first deck I bought after the rider-waite. I was sick of the rws and i fell in love with the pictures of the spirit. I all comes back to me now opening the parcel finding the deck ripping off the plastic for the first time...leading to euphoria and financial ruin
Unfortunately I was not ready for this deck as it was too different from the rws: different naming of suits and courts and sometimes different meanings...so I traded it away though I still loved the artwork.
I think I am ready for it again now, I am glad you brought it back to my attention.
As I remember the fool card was absolutley beautiful.
