I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...I just bought a Robin Wood deck, and was so excited because I've heard such good things about them. When I opened them up, I discovered that at least half of the cards had entirely blurry images! It looks like the printer shifted a few millimetres between colors, because where every black line should be, there's a dark blackish line and a medium blue line juuuust above it. Looking at these images feels like I've got the wrong prescription in my glasses! (which I don't!)
The thing I find odd is that it's in so many of the cards, but not all. Has anybody else seen this? It's very dissapointing. I'm going to call the retailer in the morning and see if I can exchange the deck.

i havent seen this problem of blurring in a Tarot deck yet, but it does happen in printing from time to time. I have a large collection of other types of collectible cards (sports and such) in which sometimes there will be a few that blurred during printing (because the sheet they were cut from was misprinted). I have had unevenly cut decks where a card or two out of the deck is short-cut or nicked or something (My Robin Wood is one of them).
AND I bought a .. i think it was the lovers tarot, or kama sutra tarot (i cant remember) and there were two of the same card and i dont even remember which one was missing, but i took it back and didnt bother to get another.
For the Wood you probably will want a to get an exchange. Post what happens. Would like to know how it turns out. If a particular publisher is fudging on quality we all ought to let them know that we notice, and by and large its important to us.

Thanks for your input, MrLucid!
I know *I* was very surprised at the condition of the deck...I too have never had a problem (or even heard of one) similar with a Tarot deck. On closer inspection, I discovered that nearly all in this deck are misprinted. About thirty are so bad I feel like I'm going crosseyed looking at them, and only a handful look as they should.
I will definately post again when I've talked to the retailer and/or publisher.

Robin Wood is published by Llewellyn(www.llewellyn.com) and they are pretty good at replacing decks. I would contact them directly.

Yes, if this deck shifted in printing, others in the same print run are going to be the same, they need to get the numbers & find where it happened. Yours won't be the only deck returned to them. I'm sure they'll be understanding.

This seems to be a growing problem. In the past year alone, I have bought five decks that were blurry, warped, ink-blobbed or had missing cards. In some decks, only one card is blurry; in others, half (or more) can be affected. I purchased a Roots of Asia deck in which all but one card caused my eyes to cross!
Morrighana, if you bought the deck at a local store, you might want to exchange it there (and open the new deck before you leave the store to be sure that it's okay). Otherwise, contact Llewellyn via e-mail to their customer support department (addresses are listed at www.llewellyn.com.; scroll to the bottom of the homepage and click on Contact Us). I have had prompt, excellent service from them.
It is so frustrating to unseal a pack of cards, anticipating that "tarot rush," and find this, instead! I am certain that Llewellyn will replace your deck if you can't exchange it locally, though.

I had the same problem with my Robin Wood deck, about 10 cards were really blurred. I contacted Llewellyn about it and they sent me replacements for the blurred cards within a week.
So it's definitely worth contacting them!

I've contacted the local retailer I bought it from, and she personally checked her other Robin Wood decks for me, and is holding a good one for me to exchange mine for. She said she'd send the one I got back to Llewellyn herself. I'm quite happy with this swap, as I save the postage costs! :)
Astraea, I totally agree about the "tarot rush" dissappointment here. I can't wait until I get my new deck, hopefully some of the rush is still there ;)

Morrighana, I am so glad to hear that your local retailer will exchange the blurry deck for a clear one. I am sure that you will still get the "tarot rush" -- especially since the retailer has personally assured you that the new cards are just right. It's a wonderful deck, so enjoy! :)
