Hi all,
I'm just wondering who owns/ likes the Wheel of Change Tarot? I was so excited about this deck when I first got it. The artwork is beautiful, but very different that most other decks especially with the minors. I find lately I don't use it as much, but would like to recharge my interest in it. Does anyone have an interest in this deck?

Thanks for the tip RedWood! I was feeling kind of lonely there for awhile. Glad to know there are others with the same kind of duality in their feelings towards this deck. By the way, I am trying to get a possible study group going for this deck under the General forum. I think this deck really deserves one, don't you?

To be honest, the art work is what drew me to this deck. The colors are bright and cheerful, and I was really drawn to some of the cards in particular that had a real nature-based pagan feel to them. The devil is more of a pan- type harvest goat god, and the High Priestess is depicted as a wise crone seated between two trees. There are a lot of earthy women, too. I liked the way different ages and body types of women were depicted.
It's a difficult deck to assimilate, though, without understanding the author's viewpoint unless you have a lot of knowledge about different cultures around the world and from the past, such as the Incan culture, for one.
There are also a lot of modern day images like smokestacks, windmills, and a baseball breaking a window.
I don't beleive that this deck speaks in a whole different language as do some. But it does stretch the spectrum of understanding for any given card. I like the challenge, though, and appreciate the added insight that can be obtained if you're willing to put the work into it. That's why I really would like to start a discussion group about these cards. I think there's a lot to derive from them that is not readily apparent.

Not to mention the book alone was worth it! If you do start a study group, I would love to participate.

Wildchild, I started a thread about it under Study Groups, General, but nobody has as yet responded. I'd love to hear any thoughts you had about it, any suggestions. Perhaps we could just tackle the deck one card at a time...

I just got the deck too after spending five months deciding if I wanted it.
I like the book, one of the reasons I bought it was her lusty interpretation of the Devil card. You don't see that kind of honesty too often. I also liked the 3 of Wands with its mention of the power of electricity and energy tied in with the three guitars on the card. Ooooh electrons!
Okay, it's a little different and you'd have to do some study to read with it. My reaction to such decks is to pull a card or several cards and write a story with my own words. Then you can read what the book says and get a deeper meaning for yourself, OR not read the book. She does have a different way of looking at things in the book which I find appealing. It's a story all her own so I revel in the creative individual and tend not to fuss too much about conventionalities.
Great colours too, it's a very fine deck.

Hi freesiaskye,
I like to read the interpretations given by the author after studying the card and try to understand how it could relate to the traditional meanings. O.K. some are a pretty far stretch, but you'd be surprised sometimes to see that her unique view really can represent the other side of the coin! It broadens our sense of any particular card, deepens our understanding by viewing it from different angles and aids in breaking through barriers when learning how to apply the cards to our LIVES. I hope you will add your insight about any particular card to the discussion group I am trying to start in the Wheel of Change thread under Study Groups/General. Love and light, Belladonna

i really like this deck. not only is it beautiful but it's also well thought out. it's uses the most original way i've ever seen of portraying number minors instead of illustrated minors. in fact, i thought they were illustrated minors until the book explains it isn't. i prefer illustrated minors but these numbered minors are so well done that my imagination easily keys into the meaning of the cards. my fav minor card is the 10 of swords. i love that old shed full of all kinds of cutting tools and uranus peeking in the door.

Hi Belladonna, I have this deck, I am just trying to get to know it. (So many new decks!!) I am not sure I am up for really participating in an intensive study of this deck, because her book is already so hefty, and I am doing a bunch of other study groups, but I sure would love there to be one so I can lurk ;)

i used this deck for a querent who felt very attracted to this deck. she felt a strong water element in it. i'm not comfortable reading from this one but it was spot on. i double checked myself against the book and even the words i used in the reading were there. i'm definitely going to explore this one as a reading deck more. there are no real disturbing images in it. she was feeling very depressed so i want to use my "safest" deck-the hanson roberts but it was no where to be found. later, i found my hr in an obvious place. it practically fell on top of me. guess it was time to try the woc! the imagery seemed even more positive than my hr w/o the sentimentality of the hr. it was what she needed.

I just received this deck today so I have only just looked trhough it. First thing I noticed: wow, what a big book !! At a first glance, I love the minors most in this deck, they are just so original. But I have not had time yet to search for the meanings behind the images etc. I'll check out the study group too.

I received this deck as a gift.
Right away, I was excited about it. It has beautiful renderings of the cards, and I liked the combination of modern and cultural influences.
When I took it out of the shrink wrapped package...I noticed something strange....
My deck has no Hanged Man and no Justice card!
But I do have TWO Death Cards!
Kind of annoying, since I really wanted to use it.
Someday, I guess I'll just have to purchase another one!

Chronata, since you bought the deck brand new it is clearly the publisher's mistake there are cards missing, and they should still give them to you if you contact them. You could offer to return the double Death card, so they know for sure you are telling the truth. People on the forum have had good experiences with asking for missing cards. I'm not sure who you would have to contact though. The title page in the book mentions a website gotoit.com. Maybe you could give that a try ?

Thanks Wolfspirit!
I have had this deck for a while and never even considered doing that!
Some others have said it's worth a try, too.
Now I just have to locate the book....

You can also try contacting Alexandra Genetti directly. She has a website. I had 2 strength cards in my deck but it was complete otherwise. I found she was very helpful whenever I emailed her with questions. I'll find the link & post it for you.
Here it is...http://www.mcn.org/b/thewheel/default.html

Kissa,
I sent her a question (I have one 'weird' card in my deck) through the email address on the website. She replied quite quickly and was very helpful.
Maybe you should give it another try?
