Recently a friend of mine moved, she gave to me some things she no longer wanted.
I'm so excited!
There were other things, but these are the Tarot items I recieved:
Tarot for Beginners - P. S. Hollander
The Celtic Tarot/ Book and Deck - Julian De Burgh
The Rider-Waite Tarot Deck
I've had several decks that have come to me and did not feel right for me.
The Celtic Tarot has a really good feel, so hopefully this will help me to relate better with them.
They have a nice feel, nothing negative at all, but I'm wondering...
in your opinion what would be the best way to cleanse them?
*Just wanted to share the smile*
If you would like to know the other things in the boxes of gifts you can go here to see.

Congratulations Floracove! :)
Took a look at the list: the Book of Shadows by Curott is *very* good, one of the best books I know on the subject.
The whole box sounds like an extended starter kit on magic!
I'm very happy for you!
(although, judging by her gift, your friend sounds like a great person, so I can understand you are sad about her leaving, too)

[/url] I am one to be skeptical of deck "energies". I tend to attribute the energy to be more on the user. Your muscle and nerve memories slip into unobservable grooves within the deck, begin to feel out its shuffle and surfaces and "know" the deck. So my advice on "cleansing" would be to shuffle the deck, handle the cards, draw them, look at them, give your hands time to be comfortable with them as one is comfortable with a friend or beloved. That is how they become "yours".
And I am so glad to be sharing that smile with you. Lately, my smiles come from the beautiful bags I have been receiving, getting the energy from friends on here who have made bags that wrap my decks and give them positive energy. Ahh, did I just contradict myself... ;)

Hedera, that is the first book i ever got my hands on, my friend, who I met thru WitchVox; let me borrow that very book from her months ago. And I did enjoy it also.
The author had a way of drawing you in and helping you "feel" what she had to say.
And, yes Cerridwynn, is a wonderful person, and I will miss being able to physically visit with her. We will be in contact once she gets settled in...
Khatruman, it's really wild, because, after i posted this thread, I picked up my cards and began to do just that.
Some of the things I have put up, but some of them have been in the box since I got them.
I'm funny about stuff, especially personal belongings.
I have had to go through 3 family members things after they passed away, cleaning and such as all that, cause no one else wanted to do so. And it is a very special and taxing thing to have to do.
And going thru the things she gave me felt so very reverent in that kinda way.
Last night, I took out the cards and went thru them, just to have a better look and to make sure they were all there.
Then I took and layed them on my alter after a few words, I couldn't fit them in my salt cup so I layed them on top of that, over night.
Thanks for your responce. :)

floracove,
another good idea for "bonding' with your deck was in another thread from a long time ago...
when you are laying down, place your deck over your heart and visualize a beautiful golden light surrounding you and your cards.
focus on sending love and light from your heart into your tarot cards.
this little technique is deceptively simple yet quite effective. i use it every once in a while to reconnect with my favorite decks from storage, or to clear my reading deck after some intense usage.
:)

What a wonderful gift and what a wonderful spirit to make such a gift! I'm sure your friend will receive this generosity back tenfold.
As far as cleansing your new decks, you can smudge them with sage grass smoke. That's what I always do when I'm concerned re some leftover negative energy.
Hope you enjoy your goodies!
