HEADS UP - USG Price Increase

For those of you who don't get the USG catalog, you may wish to be aware that as of last month, U.S. Games Systems has increased the U.S. retail price of its in-house publications. Decks that were selling for US$ 16 (which includes pretty much all of USG's standard-sized decks) are now priced at $18. The cost of decks at other price levels, and USG deck/book sets, has also been increased. The prices of products which U.S. Games distributes in the North American market but does not publish (primarily AGMuller and St. Martin's Press, but also a few selected titles from other publishers, such as Comas and il Meneghello) do not appear to have been affected by the increase. At The Tarot Garden, we've begun the process of changing the listed USG pricing in our online catalog. However, we'll the honor old pricing upon request for any in-stock items, through at least July 15th. After that, we'll have restocked a number of titles, and it will become more difficult to determine which products were obtained at the old price level, and which products were obtained after the increases. I can understand this as the dollar has fallen so much (and the UK pound did too of course, if not quite so much right now). We have just had to put this message on our site as we've given up trying to give an accurate idea of price equivalents. I suppose it all works out over a couple of years or so, but it IS a headache when currencies are up and down like yo-yos. We've been fretting over how to be as fair as possible to everyone. BTW, the UK price for our deck/book (which is our "base price") is 22.75GBP including discount - we'll try to hold this. __________ NOTICE WE'VE PUT ON OUR SITE (tarotofprague.com) As currencies have been fluctuating so wildly this year we are no longer attempting to give equivalents on this page. The USD prices are automatically updated on our online ordering pages. We hope to make euro prices available soon too. If you pre-ordered based on the dollar prices we were quoting in May and June 2003, please let us know and we will give a refund for the difference when we send your decks (at the time of writing the dollar is down, the Czech Crown and the Euro are up, and the British pound is wavering!)

Mari: USG hasn't announced much in the way of new titles for 2003/2004. Those that would be of the most interest to the folks on this forum -- Kat's Golden Tarot, and the Via Tarot -- have already cropped up in other recent threads. Other than those two, USG will be distributing a tarock deck from Modiano, and has announced a new 45-card oracle deck/book set by Toni Carmine Salerno entitled "Universal Love." The companion book for the Gendron Tarot is targeted for release in January of 2004, and USG plans to make the introductory tarot book by Susan Levitt, now included with their "Complete Tarot Kit," available separately beginning in September of this year. Whether the nice-but-busy folks at USG will be able to make the target release dates remains to be seen... -- Jeannette http://www.tarotgarden.com
