My understanding is that Llewellyn have shuffled (excuse the pun) their production schedule, and brought forward the release of this deck from spring of 2005, to autumn of 2004. Actually this is quite a gesture, because is entails knock on effects to licensing for other countries, changing the content of their sales catalogue etc.
As you know, they are now also producing a book to go along with the deck. I will provide illustrations for this, and have also provided artists notes to explain some of the images. The book is being written by Barbara Moore, who has been kind enough to send me some early drafts.
In terms of printing, Llewellyn plan to produce this with a relativly new printing process that by passes the normal intermediary stage of film, and produces printing plates directly from the digital files I will provide. This will be the first deck they produce with this process. They are "test driving" the colour of their presses as we speak. From an artist's point of view this is very satisfying as it means they are serious about doing a good job.

I absolutely cannot wait until this deck is released. When I saw the images on the site I was just in awe.. I love this type of artwork...
The style reminds me a little of the QUest Tarot - but what I don't like about that deck is that I prefer fully illustrated minors...
The Gilded Tarot has beautiful minors. I am so excited that this deck may be released early!...

Thank you Cirom. I'm so glad the everything is going smoothly for you. And that early release is a sign I think that they see great sale potential in this deck and want to get it out there. Your cards are so beautiful and detailed I hope this new printing process does them justice. And like Dolphinprincess I can't wait to get my deck. Namaste

I've moved these posts from this thread in Tarot Spreads because I'm sure more people would like to read about the release of the Gilded Tarot. ;)

The deck is so beautiful that I instantly put it at the top of my wish list ( which is remoresfully growing).
I am very excited about the 2004 release, I don't think I could have stood the wait til 2005.

As another response to an observation made by Lark on an earlier forum, of having noticed a dolphin on the two of Pentacles. Actually there are eighty living creatures spread throughout the deck, not including humans, horses and angels. Although some, such as insects and birds will be too small to see on the low resolution references currently on my web site.
By the way I have been in discussions with Solandia about a competition for Aeclectic members. The first prize will be one of the special edition decks, other prizes will be prints of selected cards, but be warned, I won't be making it easy. So you all think you know your Tarot ??? Well we'll see.:-)

Just checked the images and there's no way out - I'm going to have to have it. That'll be sixteen decks in about six months. I think I have the worst case of taroholism ever. Help - I need a doctor... I need... a new deck!
Seriously though - what beautiful cards. Many congratulations, Cirom, and best wishes for the release!
Blessings,
Kate
